The Galaxy Z Fold5 has arrived, as have the Galaxy Watch6 series, the Galaxy Z Flip5 and the Galaxy Tab S9 series. As various rumours and leaks suggested, Samsung has made minor changes from the Galaxy Z Fold4 on the face of it, although the Galaxy Z Fold can finally close flat with the fifth generation model. According to Samsung, the Galaxy Z Fold5 is 13.4 mm thick when closed, making the new model between 5% and 15% thinner than its predecessor.
The Galaxy Z Fold5 is also slightly thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold4 at 6.1 mm and is roughly 0.2 mm shorter too. Similarly, the new model is 0.2 mm narrower when open but remains 67.1 mm wide when closed. Samsung has shaved 10 g between generations as well, with the Galaxy Z Fold5 tipping the scales at 253 g. Seemingly, the Galaxy Z Fold5 maintains its predecessor's displays, which still measure 6.2-inches and 7.6-inches, respectively. For reference, the former outputs at 2,316 x 904 pixels, while the latter delivers 2,176 x 1,812 pixels across its Dynamic AMOLED panel.
Moreover, Samsung equips the Galaxy Z Fold5 with 50 MP primary, 12 MP ultra-wide-angle, 10 MP telephoto, 10 MP front-facing and 4 MP under-panel cameras. Underpinning all these components is a 4,400 mAh battery, which powers a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chipset, 12 GB of RAM and a choice between 256 GB, 512 GB or 1 TB of storage. Please note that the latter is a Samsung online exclusive option.
The Galaxy Z Fold5 is orderable from today, with prices starting at €1,899 in the Eurozone. Alternatively, Samsung sells the foldable for €2,109 with 512 GB of storage and as a 1 TB option for €2,559. All storage options will be orderable directly from Samsung in Blue, Cream, Grey, Icy Blue and Phantom Black colourways. However, Blue and Grey are Samsung online exclusive colour options. Please see Samsung's website for more details.
