Xiaomi MIX Fold 3: First images of new foldable appear online
The first images of the MIX Fold 3 have appeared online, including an alleged shot of its retail packaging. To recap, only a few days have passed since Xiaomi confirmed the device's impending release. Unfortunately, while CEO Lei Jun teased the MIX Fold 3 on Twitter, Xiaomi is not expected to offer the handset globally. Instead, the company will keep its MIX Fold series exclusive to China, with no global models sold under different guises either.
Seemingly, the MIX Fold 3 has an edge-to-edge cover display and maintains a similar form factor as the current MIX Fold 2. Based on the image embedded below, the device has a relatively thin hinge, as well as a subtly curved cover display. A punch-hole front-facing camera will return too; the MIX 4 is Xiaomi's most recent smartphone with an under-display camera.
Meanwhile, the same Weibo leaker has provided a look at MIX Fold 3 retail packaging, mirroring it predecessor. Hence, Xiaomi has continued with a minimal design, incorporating only the device's name and a mention of its ongoing Leica partnership. Xiaomi has already confirmed that it will use Leica camera tunings across four rear-facing cameras, with a first outing for new compact periscope modules, micro OIS motors and ultra-slim high refractive lenses.
