MIX Fold 3: Xiaomi confirms launch date of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 rival alongside other new devices
Xiaomi has now confirmed the launch date of its next flagship smartphone, following the introduction of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra earlier this year. As expected, the unreleased smartphone in question is the MIX Fold 3, which is still anticipated to be a Chinese exclusive. With that said, both Xiaomi and its CEO continue to tease the upcoming foldable on their global social media channels.
As the images below show, Xiaomi's next launch event will commence at 11:00 UTC (19:00 CST) on August 14. So far, the company has hinted that it will also present the Redmi K60 Ultra during the same event, which is rumoured to arrive less than a month later globally as the Xiaomi 13T Pro. This should apply to the Pad 6 Max too, a Geekbench listing of which appeared online earlier this week.
Undoubtedly, Xiaomi is focusing on the MIX Fold 3 for now, despite the apparent 3-hour runtime of next week's event. To that end, Xiaomi has now shared numerous teaser images of the foldable on its Chinese and global social media channels. Seemingly, the MIX Fold 3 retains the comparatively thin design of its predecessor while adding a more stable hinge that allows the device to mimic Samsung's Flex Mode.
Also, Xiaomi has revealed that the MIX Fold 3 will utilise punch-hole selfie cameras on both displays, unlike the Galaxy Z Fold5. Moreover, it appears that Xiaomi's next foldable has cameras with f/1.8 to f/2.9 apertures, which deliver 15-115 mm equivalent focal lengths too. In other words, the MIX Fold 3 is shaping up to take on the camera capabilities of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, despite its somewhat compromised form factor. The MIX Fold 3 will serve as a showcase for other new camera hardware as well, including a compact periscope module.
