The latest smartphone market research indicates that OPPO is now the top brand in the Chinese market, and is in the top five worldwide, as of the first half of 2023 (1H2023). Its overall share of the global market went up to 10% for that time period. The OEM's success was attributed to the release and adoption rates of cutting-edge foldable devices such as the Find N2 Flip, as well as its current conventional Find X6 flagships.

According to leading industry research group Canalys, OPPO has emerged as the "best selling" smartphone brand in the Chinese market during 1H2023, and as the 4th best worldwide for the same 6 months. It shipped a total of 51.9 million units during that time, for a 10% share of the entire market.

OPPO is known for several lines of conventional candy-bar smartphones, the A series, the higher-end Renos and the flagship Find X variants included. However, it is also gaining a reputation for foldable smartphones that might be the best alternative to those from Samsung in select markets. Those bragging rights may have contributed to its certainty of top-5 status in 1H2023, especially in China.

OPPO's Find N series accounted for 31% of all foldables sold in that market in the first quarter of 2023 (1Q2023). The N2 Flip, which was doing the big cover display, fold-flat design and enlarged battery thing before the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 thought it was cool, is particularly credited with the OEM's success in its market sector worldwide, where its share grew by 8% quarter-on-quarter in 1Q2023.

Then again, the N2 Flip's larger, newer sibling might get its time to shine later this year - especially if this supposedly advanced, refined Find N3 really does go global and sells through OPPO's sister brand OnePlus later this year.

Its release might help with Canalys' predictions of a foldable smartphone market that will grow from 13.1 million units shipped in 2022 to 19 million by the end of 2023, progressing at a compound annual rate (or CAGR) of 114% until it hits 55 million in 2025.
