The Motorola Razr Plus/40 Ultra is the latest in a line of modern full-screen devices that can fold like their iconic cell-phone namesakes. This 2023 flagship also has the biggest and best cover display of the year (within its clamshell category) thus far, which is just 1 area that came in for an accolade during its stint on the JerryRigEverything durability show.
Zach Nelson also noted that the latest Razr flagship has a design that allows it to unfold completely flat and close without a hinge-gap: things that can't be said of the even more expensive Google Pixel Fold and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 respectively. However, the Motorola alternative was revealed to have structural deficiencies of its own.
They may indeed by very much of its own, as Nelson demonstrated the ability to put his thumb right through that celebrated extra-large, camera-engulfing cover display in the course of trying to break the Razr Plus' main screen by bending it from the back.
On the other hand, the popular destruction-testing vlogger was unable to complete the Razr Plus' destruction in this way, leaving the new Motorola flagship more or less still on by the end of the test. That might save it from the Shelf of Shame in many foldable fans' eyes despite the unexpected fail exhibited by its secondary screen - then again, it has done much better than some of its own predecessors nonetheless.
