The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra stars in the latest JerryRigEverything video
The Galaxy S22 Ultra may have surprised some consumers by recently failing a (however comprehensive) drop test, especially considering all of Samsung's assertions of enhanced durability thanks to its top-end Gorilla Glass Victus+. Then again, Corning's new flagship protective material for smartphones has at least posted a win in terms of resistance to a bend test at least once already. Now, it has a stellar new chance to replicate this performance.
The new phablet is the latest device to feature on Zach Nelson's well-known JerryRigEverything YouTube channel, which counts a bend test as its typical final stage. The S22 Ultra flew through what came before as well, including the typical frame-scraping and screen-torching phases. There was an extra S Pen-snapping scene in this particular episode of the vlog, of course; however, no-one has ever expected those to be particularly bend-proof.
On that note, the Ultra's display exhibited pretty much no fewer "scratches at a level 6, with deeper grooves at a level 7" than the average newly-released device. Eventually, however, it had to face the bend portion of the video - which it also passed with no problems, as with the earlier PBK Reviews clip on the subject.
Then agian, this just might be attributed as much to to its new Armor frame (which either matches or exceeds those of its technical dual predecessors the Galaxy S21 Ultra and Note20 Ultra in terms of thickness) as to its front and rear glass panel upgrades.
