The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are expected to graduate to the Dynamic Island display type that was exclusive to the 14 Pro series on its 2022 debut. However, the 15 Pro and Pro Max are now tipped to retain the edge, as their screens will be made with a first-for-iPhone technique that could made the noticeable bezels of their predecessors finally recede.

In a world of Android OEMs racing each other to the truly edge-to-edge display, no-one seems willing to talk about the fact that Apple is not exactly falling over itself to catch up. On the other hand, the Cupertino giant is said to have zero-bezel technology in the works, yet is in no hurry to get it ready for 2023's iPhones.

Then again, the company is now believed to have a trick up its sleeve to bridge this gap in the meantime, adapted from its existing production processes. It is now said to have ported the low-injection pressure over-molding (or LIPO) technique that has squashed Apple Watch bezels out of existence to the 15 series.

The results are said to consist of displays with borders that shrink by about 0.7 millimeters (mm, or from ~2.2mm to 1.5mm) generation on generation. That may not sound like much, but might have an esthetic impact when paired with a new Dynamic Island.

However, unfortunately, the new, relatively thin-bezelled displays are said to be destined for the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max only: devices already tipped to upgrade to Thunderbolt ports, titanium frames and the A17 Bionic processor later this year.
