Mark Gurman's summary of the latest Apple leaks focuses pretty much exclusively on upcoming mobile devices or peripherals, the Watch offerings that will debut later in 2023 included. However, it contains relatively few surprises, few of which may be all that encouraging for fans of wearables from the Cupertino heavyweight.
While direct successors for the Watch Series 8 41- and 45-millimeter (mm) variants will be provided, they may not be joined by a new Watch SE in 2023. That might be a particular shame for the accessibility-focused smartwatch, as the entire Series "9" is backed to launch with a custom processor upgrade: an S9 compared to the S6 that has endured since 2020.
Then again, that change might matter little enough without the new health-tracking features to get the best out of it. Regardless, the "Apple Watch Ultra 2023" is also tipped to benefit from this upgrade - not to mention a potentially lighter build (possibly thanks to a switch to a partially 3D-printed chassis).
On that note, some inaugural Watch Ultra fans might have been thrilled to hear that the new flagship was made of titanium, yet disappointed to see that it had a color much more like silver, on its debut. However, Apple is now backed to address that potential lapse with the addition of a "dark titanium option" in its second generation.
