Amazfit Bip 5: New smartwatch launches for under US$100 with 1.91-inch display and 10 days of battery life

Amazfit has presented the Bip 5, its latest affordable smartwatch. Already available to order in multiple markets, the Bip 5 has a 1.91-inch TFT display that resolves natively at 320 x 380 pixels. Also equipped with a touchscreen layer, Amazfit protects the 260 PPI panel with 2.5D tempered glass and applies a coating to minimise fingerprint smudges.

Additionally, the smartwatch has a 300 mAh battery that Amazfit rates for 5 days of usage in a worse case scenario of heavy usage. For reference, the Bip 5 should be good for anywhere up to 10 days between charges in general use and 26 days with its battery saver mode enabled. Presumably, the Bip 5 will Duo below a week’s battery life with some of its health tracking features activated, such as measuring blood oxygen levels.

In that vein, the Bip 5 has a BioTracker PPG biometric sensor and 4-satellite positioning system that integrates with the smartwatch’s sports modes. Moreover, the smartwatch supports Bluetooth 5.2 BLE for connecting to accessories and smartphones. According to Amazfit, the Bip 5 uses the Zepp App to communicate with a paired smartphone, with Android 7.0 and iOS 14 supported.

As usual, Amazfit has integrated a microphone and speaker for making or receiving calls with a paired smartphone nearby. However, the Bip 5 lacks a nano SIM card slot or an eSIM of its own. The Amazfit Bip 5 is orderable now in Cream White, Pastel Pink and Soft Black colour options, all for £89.90 in the UK, €89.90 in the Eurozone and US$89.99 in the US.
