Apple has reportedly begun to manufacture units of its iPhone 15, not to mention its Plus, Pro and Pro Max siblings, in certain regions. However, they may be mass-produced in smaller volumes compared to earlier projections. Meanwhile, one of the series' members has allegedly popped up on an official regulator's database ahead of its launch.

Apple's production partner Foxconn has reportedly started to manufacture iPhone 15-series units in India. The company's counterparts in China are still thought to be first to get its first batches ready to ship, although the  Tamil Nadu-based plant will apparently be "only weeks" behind.

India's win in terms of getting a piece of Apple's business away from the OEM's traditional manufacturing hub could be a little more subdued than it might have been in earlier years, however, in the face of reports that the Cupertino giant might cut iPhone 15 production orders.

9to5Mac claims to have heard that "the analyst Jeff Pu" has advised investors that Apple now plans to make 77 million iPhone 15-series units in 2023, as opposed to previous estimates of 83 million. The ~7% cut is supposedly related to Apple's unexpected adversity in sourcing parts for nearly every major (if still largely hypothetical) upgrade that isn't the switch to USB type-C: the new camera modules; the relatively thin-bezel displays and the titanium frames for the Pro models.

Nevertheless, plans for an iPhone 15 event set in Apple's traditional third-quarter window continue apace - according to a new leak courtesy of India's BIS, that is. It has now allegedly registered a novel Apple product called the A3094, listed alongside an authentic model number for the 14 Plus (A2886). Therefore, some iPhone launch business might go on as usual in 2023.
