Creative beast on a leash. The Galaxy Book3 Ultra's computing power is not visible from the outside. While the RTX 4070 and i9-13900H are definitely the stuff of a powerful gaming laptop, these components are housed in an extremely slim and discreet case. This is only possible with significantly reduced power consumption, which does not hinder performance as much as one might expect.

Zombie invasion in a pretty setting. Dead Island 2 might not be the best game of the year, but the mixture of splatter action and dignified Hollywood atmosphere definitely has its appeal. You can find the hardware requirements in our benchmark check.

Gaming ultrabook. Lenovo is offering its new Yoga Pro 7 14 with the GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop GPU and a matte 3K display with 120 Hz and P3 color space coverage. This turns the compact 14-inch device into a powerful multimedia device that can also run the latest games.

Fast and fabulous. For a 14-inch notebook, the Gigabyte Aero 14 OLED BMF has a lot to offer. The powerful screen is already included in the name. With a Core i7 and a Nvidia RTX 4050, strong performance is guaranteed. But the internals are not the only selling point of the 14-incher, which also offers an impressive keyboard with a decent travel.

140 W TGP graphics. The Legion Pro 5 series is home to Lenovo's midrange gaming laptops, but our expectations are nonetheless high considering the lofty starting price of over $1400 USD for just the RTX 4050. The model impresses on most fronts so long as you can live with some notable drawbacks.

Moderate condition for an otherwise good game. Publisher EA have not made it easy for themselves in the past years - as blunders in the form of Pay to Win in Fifa or Jedi Survivor's bad performance in combination with high hardware requirements have shown. Imbalanced. Despite the 16-inch format, the Samsung Galaxy Book3 Pro 16 can be considered a mobile laptop because of its compact size, low weight, and very good battery life. In addition, it offers an AMOLED display in the work-friendly 16:10 format (2,880 x 1,800 pixels) and a powerful Core i5 processor.

Mendocino? More like Mendocinope The Acer Aspire 3 with AMD's Mendocino-based Ryzen 5 7520U processor targets the low-end market with its affordable price. It features a 15.6-inch TN panel, a 512 GB NVMe SSD, 8 GB of soldered LPDDR5 RAM, and a 40 Wh battery. Is it worth sacrificing some features to save a few bucks? Read on to find out.

Light and shade. After quite a delay, the first 4 nm chips are being brought onto the market. We finally got our hands on the new Phoenix series Ryzen 9 7940HS in order to test the processor's performance and check out its efficiency levels using different power levels. Was the wait worth it?

Slimmer isn't always better. Asus has completely reworked last year's Zenbook S13 OLED, and the new 2023 model has now become lighter and also slimmer. In addition, Asus has replaced the AMD chip with an Intel Raptor Lake processor, but that isn't really an advantage. In everyday operation, the two fans are also a problem.

Super-sized 16-inch 2-in-1. Most convertible laptops tend to be small to better accommodate tablet mode. However, some users may still prefer a larger touchscreen even if it means a heavier system. The 16-inch Lenovo Yoga 7 16 fulfills that niche quite well and at an affordable price, too.

Debut for the Ryzen 9 7940HS. The 2023 Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 is the first laptop with AMD’s new Phoenix mobile processor, which is combined with the fast GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop and a 165 Hz Mini-LED panel in a compact 14-inch laptop.

The somewhat different "tabletop". Nvidia's new, more efficient RTX 40 generation makes it possible: the high-end graphics cards can be packed into ever smaller form factors. Asus takes this even further, simply installing an RTX 4060 in a 13-inch tablet instead of a 13-inch laptop. This comes with a magnetic keyboard, thus doubling it as a convertible. So can we play AAA games on tablets now?

The golden mean? Samsung attempts to balance performance, mobility, power consumption and noise emissions in the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra 16 - and does well as a result. The Core i7-13700H and GeForce RTX 4050 deliver plenty of performance for gaming and rendering, even at reduced power.

The last samurai. The Lenovo ThinkPad P15v Gen 3 will be the final ThinkPad with the classic 1.8 mm keyboard. It's also the first workstation model in the ThinkPad series with the AMD Ryzen 6000H series - the mixture of old and new in this relatively inexpensive ThinkPad workstation is exciting.

Expensive office laptop. Microsoft have updated the Surface Laptop 5 with Alder Lake processors and Thunderbolt 4 - but the rest of the device has remained the same. Neither performance nor features can make up for the laptop's premium price.

Upgraded. Medion's heavily equipped gaming notebook offers a large 16-inch screen (QHD+, 240 Hz, G-Sync) in 16:10 format, a mechanical keyboard, 32 GB of RAM and a whopping 2 TB of storage space. A Core i9-13900HX and a GeForce RTX 4070 drive the powerful computing behemoth.

Clevo in Gigabyte's clothing. Gigabyte's foray into the Indian market kicks off with the midrange G5 series. The G5 KE is based on a Clevo design and shares similar specs as the larger G7 KE including an Intel Core i5-12500H CPU, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU, and a 144 Hz display. While the Gigabyte G5 KE gets most of the gaming basics right, buyers will have to contend with compromises in other areas.

50 W GeForce RTX 4070 graphics. Whereas the 2022 XPS 15 topped out at GeForce RTX 3050 Ti graphics, this year's model has upped the ante to a GeForce RTX 4070. As impressive as that may sound on paper, there are significant compromises that users ought to be aware of before pulling the trigger on the latest 2023 model.
