Nvidia GeForce Game Ready Driver 556.12 comes with DLSS 3.5 support in The First Descendant and more
Yesterday, Nvidia unleashed a new driver update for its desktop and mobile GPUs capable of delivering a DLSS-infused visual experience in the most recent games. In this case, the games that receive new optimizations via the GeForce Game Ready Driver package labeled 556.12 are The First Descendant and Payday 3.
Powered by the popular Unreal Engine 5, The First Descendant is a free, third-person shooter that brings together games in a 4-player co-op setting that allows them to try out a rich collection of unique characters while enjoying an in-depth story and World Missions that pit them against tough bosses. Scheduled to launch on the 2nd of July, The First Descendant gets DLSS 3.5 with Ray Reconstruction, Reflex, DLAA, and ray traced effects via the new driver package.
In the past, Payday 3 received DLSS 2 and DLAA. Now, the Boys in Blue update arrives with DLSS 3 and Reflex support. The optimizations delivered by the 556.12 driver allow for over 120 fps on the GeForce RTX 4070 in Super Resolution Performance Mode at 4K. In this case, the system used also involved the Intel Cor i9-14900K, 64 GB of RAM, and Windows 11 64-bit.
Sadly, there are no new G-Sync Compatible displays to talk about today. However, four games got one-click optimal settings in GeForce Experience and the Nvidia app. These titles are Bodycam, Pax Dei, Soulmask, and EA Sports F1 24.
The new driver package can be downloaded via the new Nvidia app, with the help of the old GeForce Experience, or by just pointing a web browser to GeForce.com and grabbing the package compatible with the hardware in use. Those looking for a new GeForce video card can currently grab the Asus Dual GeForce RTX 4070 White OC Edition (DUAL-RTX4070-O12G-WHITE) off Amazon for $569.99 instead of $619.99, thanks to a small discount of 8 percent.
