Intel Lunar Lake lineup leaks with one Core Ultra 9, four Core Ultra 7 and four Core Ultra 5 SKUs
A previous report predicted Intel would reveal its entire Lunar Lake laptop CPU lineup sometime in mid-September. For now, we have an in-depth look at its new Skymont CPU core and next-gen Xe2 iGPU. Videocardz has now revealed the entire Lunar Lake lineup. It has 9 SKUs spearheaded by just one Core i9 model. Unlike last-gen models, all Lunar Lake CPUs come with 4 performance and 4 efficiency cores. The differences between models lie primarily in how high they can boost, iGPU, NPU and the amount of soldered memory.
Model | P Core boost | E Core boost | NPU |
---|---|---|---|
Core Ultra 9 288V | 5.1 GHz | 3.7 GHz | 48 TOPS |
Core Ultra 7 268V | 5.0 GHz | 3.7 GHz | 48 TOPS |
Core Ultra 7 266V | 5.0 GHz | 3.7 GHz | 48 TOPS |
Core Ultra 7 258V | 4.8 GHz | 3.7 GHz | 47 TOPS |
Core Ultra 7 256V | 4.8 GHz | 3.7 GHz | 47 TOPS |
Core Ultra 5 238V | 4.7 GHz | 3.5 GHz | 40 TOPS |
Core Ultra 5 236V | 4.7 GHz | 3.5 GHz | 40 TOPS |
Core Ultra 5 228V | 4.5 GHz | 3.5 GHz | 40 TOPS |
Core Ultra 5 226V | 4.5 GHz | 3.5 GHz | 40 TOPS |
While Intel's new naming scheme might seem overwhelming, there is a method to the madness. All the SKUs that end with '8' come with 32 GB of LPDDR5X 8,533 RAM and the ones that end with '6' get only 16 GB. These, combined with AMD's new Ryzen AI nomenclature and Qualcomm's confusingly-named Snapdragon X Elite sub-variants, are bound to cause confusion among new laptop buyers.
The Core Ultra 9 288V, Core Ultra 7 268V, 266V, 258V and 256V get an Intel Arc 140V iGPU with slightly varying boost clocks (2.05 GHz on the Ultra 9, 2.0 GHz on the next two and 1.95 GHz on the rest). Similarly, all the Core i5 models get an Arc 130V that can boost up to 1.85 GHz. Only the Core Ultra 9 288V has a PL1 and PL2 of 30 Watts. The rest of the lineup's PL1 tops out at 17 Watts and PL2 remains the same at 30 W.
Even though Intel plans to show off Lunar Lake in the coming weeks, laptops with the next-gen silicon won't hit shelves until next year. They'll be shown off at CES 2025 and launch subsequently. An earlier leak also talked about a second Raptor Lake refresh arriving under the Core (not Ultra) 200H banner. Intel could unveil at CES alongside some non-K Arrow Lake chips.
