Intel Core Ultra 5 228V Lunar Lake CPU shows up on Geekbench alongside new MSI Prestige 13 variant
So far, we've had a glimpse at how each Lunar Lake SKU performs at different tiers. As expected, the top-spec Core Ultra 9 288V leads the charts, followed by the Core Ultra 7 268V. Things get weird with lower-specced SKUs like the Core Ultra 5 236V, but now, the Core Ultra 5 226V's Geekbench listing gives us a better idea about how the entry-level chip will perform ahead of its September launch.
It scores 2,585 and 10,053 points in Geekbench's single and multi-core tests, respectively. A quick peek at Geekbench's frequency chart confirms there's no throttling and the CPU can easily hold its rumoured 4.5 GHz boost clock. The CPU powers a soon-to-be-announced MSI Prestige 13 AI Evo variant. Like every other Lunar Lake SKU, it features an 8-core CPU with 4 Lion Cove and 4 Skymont cores.
A recent listing showed off an Acer laptop powered by a Core Ultra 5 226V. Because Lunar Lake comes with on-package memory, OEMs will have to offer xx6 and xx8 variants of their laptops for varying RAM configurations. While this might be a little confusing initially, it follows a consistent pattern, with SKUs like the Core Ultra 5 228V (and others than end in '8') offering 32 GB of memory and ones that end in '6' offering 16 GB.
