Intel Arc 140V: New Lunar Lake iGPU performs on par with Radeon 780M on Geekbench
Yesterday, the mid-range Intel Core Ultra 7 256V Lunar Lake made its Geekbench debut, showing off the power of Intel's new Lion Cove and Skymont cores. Now, we get to see its Battlemage-based Arc 140V iGPU in action via another Lunar Lake CPU: Core Ultra 7 258V.
It scores 31,560 and 34,181 in Geekbench 6.3's Vulkan benchmark. These numbers are intriguing as they're slightly better than AMD's Radeon 780M iGPU found on popular handhelds like the ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion Go. This makes the new Lunar Lake-powered MSI Claw a strong contender in the market unlike its predecessor which was lambasted for its lackluster performance.
Given Intel is yet to officially reveal Lunar Lake CPU models, it is unknown which part MSI will choose, but the Core Ultra 7 268V seems like a more plausible contender than the Core Ultra 7 258V benchmarked here. Then again, it won't matter much because both parts are nearly identical with the same CPU and iGPU.
Intel revealed earlier the top-spec Lunar Lake GPU (presumably the Arc 140V) would pack eight Xe2 cores and perform on par with Meteor Lake-H parts with a lower power draw. Whether or not it can beat Strix Point's Radeon 890M iGPU remains to be seen, especially in real-world gaming test.
