Intel Core Ultra 9 285K: Rumored 5.7 GHz boost aims to challenge AMD's flagships
The upcoming Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, part of the Arrow Lake-S series, is rumored to be the fastest processor in the lineup.
According to leaker OneRaichu, the Core Ultra 9 285K may feature:
- P-Core max boost: 5.7 GHz
- P-Core all-core boost: 5.4 GHz (speculated)
- E-Core max boost: 4.7 GHz
- E-Core all-core boost: 4.6 GHz (speculated)
Compared to its predecessor, the Core i9-14900K, the 285K's P-Core max boost is 300 MHz slower, while its E-Core max boost is 300 MHz faster.
The Arrow Lake-S series is expected to utilize:
- Lion Cove Performance Cores
- Skymont Efficient Cores
- Arc Xe-LPG graphics
The Core Ultra 9 285K is anticipated to have:
- 8 Performance cores
- 16 Efficiency cores
- 24 Threads
- 125W TDP
Intel's Innovation event in September is anticipated to be the launchpad for the Core Ultra 200 series, with retail availability expected to follow in October. While only six configurations are currently known, Intel is reportedly developing at least 12 other configurations.
The rumored 5.7 GHz boost clock of the Core Ultra 9 285K would put it in the same performance bracket as the Zen 4 based Ryzen 9 7950X and the newly introduced Ryzen 9 9900X, potentially intensifying the competition in the high-end desktop CPU market.
As with all pre-release information, these specifications are subject to change. Intel still has not released any official information.
