AMD's 10-core Ryzen AI 9 365 CPU has just made its Geekbench debut. It performs on par with its 12-core sibling (Ryzen AI 9 HX 370). However, there is a lot of scope for improvement because the chip was not operating at its peak.

Despite Strix Point slated to be "AMD's largest laptop launch ever", it has only shown off two SKUs so far. The top-spec Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 was nothing short of stellar, trading blows with the Ryzen 9 7950X in Cinebench 2024's single-core test. The other model (Ryzen AI 9 365) has now shown up on Geekbench.

It scores 2,730 and 13,032 points in Geekbench 6.2's single and multi-core tests. The Ryzen AI 9 365 sample in question was powering an Acer Swift laptop with 16 GB of RAM. It boosts up to 4.4 GHz, much lower than AMD's advertised boost clock of 5.0 GHz. A cursory glance at its clocks reveals heavy throttling, presumably due to pre-production hardware/software.

The Ryzen AI 9 365's single-core performance is more or less on par with the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, not surprising given both use the same Zen 5 CPU cores. Multi-core performance is more or less the same. According to our benchmark database, the last-gen Ryzen 9 8945HS scored 2,684 and 13,238 points in Geekbench 6.2, making it slightly slower than the Strix Point SKU. On the other hand, the Meteor Lake-based Core Ultra 9 185H lagged behind in single-core performance with 2,492 points, but leveled the playing field in multi-core (13,972).

For now, the Intel Core i9-14900HX reigns supreme in Geekbench 6.2 single-core performance metrics. However, it could be dethroned once the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and Ryzen AI 9 365 hit their full potential in retail units. Plus, Lunar Lake is not scheduled to arrive until next year and when it does, it isn't topping any benchmark charts, at least ones that involve raw performance.
