Retailer reveals potential launch date and prices of AMD Ryzen AI 300 laptops
Qualcomm is the only supplier of the current Copilot Plus AI laptops. However, there will soon be more options, with Intel Lunar Lake and AMD Strix Point systems rolling out in the market and getting support from Microsoft. These new processors are announced to meet the minimum 40+ TOPs NPU requirement.
Speaking of which, the launch of laptops featuring the AMD Strix Point laptop processors might just be around the corner. At least, that's what the retailer listings are suggesting. More specifically, according to the listings on Best Buy, the AMD Ryzen AI 300 laptops will be available on July 15.
In addition to the potential launch date, we got to know the prices of these next-gen AMD laptops. The cheapest one listed is the Asus Zenbook S 16 with Ryzen AI 9 365. It has a $1,399.99 pre-order price tag. As for the most expensive option available on the retailer's website, it's the Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 with Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, and it's listed at $2,299.99.
Alongside the Ryzen AI 300 series, retailers from Canada and the Philippines have shared info on the desktop Ryzen 9000 series. Per the listings uncovered, the desktop processors will launch on July 31, and currently, the cheapest CPU listed is the Ryzen 5 9600X at about $300. The most expensive one, on the other hand, is the Ryzen 9 9950X, which is listed at roughly $600.
There's not much information available for the desktop chips, but according to GPD, the Ryzen AI 300 series will offer a decent performance boost. The manufacturer claims the AI 9 HX 370 can deliver a performance similar to that of the Ryzen 9 7950X on Cinebench. In the graphics department, the new Radeon 890M iGPU is said to perform 33% better than the 780M.
