Light(s) in the dark. Equipped with a quad-core Haswell CPU, Nvidia's fastest mobile single GPU, and capable of various lighting effects, the Alienware 17 vies for the attention of gaming customers. Our review will determine if the update is a worthwhile choice.

Strong build with a few weaknesses. The all-around notebook of Toshiba is equipped with a powerful Intel Core i7 from the Haswell generation and a dedicated GPU from Nvidia. Plenty of RAM rounds off the packet. But can the notebook deliver what it has promised?

Modest, fast, well-made. The XMG A503 is the newest model in Schenker Technologies' mid-range gaming series. The Ivy Bridge CPU and the GeForce GT 650M have been replaced by a combination of a Haswell CPU and a GeForce GTX 765M. Is this enough to satisfy our expectations?

Affordable and conservative. While the waves of Ultrabooks and tablets wash over the market, Toshiba’s got something just the opposite: a conventional, 17-inch desktop replacement. Just because you’ve got the latest parts doesn’t mean you have to embrace the latest trends… right?

Haswell allrounder. The Satellite L70-A-10T is another offer for those looking for a general-purpose laptop with 17.3 inch size. The customer gets a Haswell CPU, a GeForce graphics card, a big memory capacity and a full HD screen for about 900 Euro. Our review reveals whether the offer from Toshiba is recommendable.

Casual business. HP considers its ProBook series to be quite affordable yet of high-quality. The business laptops that feature a straightforward configuration and decent battery runtimes are to find a place primarily in companies and on the desks of freelancers.

Xtreme CrossFireX. The large 17.3-inch size allows for some serious power under the hood for high-end DTRs. With increasing competition from the refreshed Asus ROG series and Alienware models, we check to see if Eurocom and its X7 Radeon hardware can still convince us otherwise.

Long battery life for little money. With the Aspire V5-131, Acer offers a subnotebook with big battery capacity. Thanks to its ULV processor, the power consumption of the small computer is low and we expect a very long battery life. This review uncovers whether this is actually true.

Superlatives. Alienware does not make any compromises with its latest 18-inch monster. You can not only select the best mobile quad-core processors in the configurator but also the fastest high-end graphics cards. Ultra-Business. Dell has updated its Latitude series and added a number of new models. The Dell Latitude E7240 is a compact 12-inch business ultrabook, which wants to convince with professional equipment and premium features. We extensively tested how well it succeeds at this.

Touch update. Same chassis and hardware, different name. Samsung adds a touchscreen to a Chronos 7 series model and renames the notebook in the process. Like the predecessor, the ATIV Book 8 Touch still ships with a potent Core i7 processor and a dedicated Radeon GPU. Update in gray. The Toshiba Satellite C855-2J4 is a 15.6-inch entry-level notebook. Equipped with an Intel Core i5-3230M processor and AMD Radeon HD 7610M GPU, the notebook is one of the more powerful models in Toshiba's entry-level series.

Versatile all-rounder. A thin 14-inch case is the base for Sony's latest multimedia device that wants to attract customers with highlights like a touchscreen display, NFC support and a hybrid hard drive. Does the Vaio Fit for 900 Euros (~$1215) offer any other surprises?

Energy efficient and quiet. Asus has with the F550CA-XX078D the appropriate offer for those who cannot or simply do not want to spend a lot on a notebook, . For almost 320 Euros (~$433) the buyer gets a 15.6-inch notebook with ULV processor and 500 GB hard-drive. A Windows operating system is not included in the scope of delivery. Our review reveals if Asus has a convincing offer on its hands.

Aspire differently. Acer’s latest Aspire V5 model steps back from the solid state drives and supreme battery life of most Ultrabooks in exchange for a heavier focus on graphics—all at an affordable price point. But was it worth the trouble?

Think Slim! Business notebooks are usually conservative and rather bulky working devices. Lenovo’s ThinkPad S531 is one alternative that wants to eliminate this prejudice. It combines typical business features with a slim ultrabook design. We checked if the attractive specifications are convincing.
