While the PC manufacturers are busy transitioning all their consumer notebooks to Kaby Lake, the business market is still stuck with Skylake. Not by accident though, as Intel will not launch its vPro CPUs until early 2017. So someone interested in a Kaby Lake equipped Dell Latitudes, HP Elitebooks or Lenovo ThinkPads has to show some patience.
Today, pictures of the presumably first Kaby Lake equipped ThinkPads emerged. Not only are the two models already listed on several spots on Lenovos support site, they also appear in two Youtube videos on Lenovo France´s channel, offering a 360° view of the new models.
Following Lenovo´s naming scheme the E470 is going to be a 14" device, while the E570 is a 15.6" model. The E-Series is the entry line of the ThinkPad lineup, with the last gen models starting at 569 Dollars. The new models are likely to start in the same price-range.
E470 is more like a typical Ultrabook, while the E570 is more a traditional laptop in comparison. For example, the E470 has an integrated battery and the E570 has an external, removable battery. Also, the E570 has legacy features like VGA and an Optical Disk Drive (ODD). Different from their predecessors, both models don´t have a Onelink docking-port. Other details retrievable from the videos:
E470:
- 3x USB, 1x HDMI, 1x Ethernet, 1x Audio Combo, Kensington-Lock, SD-cardreader, Power connector
- Big maintenance-door
- Big, single hinge
E570:
- 3x USB, 1x HDMI, 1x Ethernet, 1x Audio Combo, Kensington-Lock, SD-cardreader, Power connector
- Aluminum display-cover
- Big speaker-grill between keyboard and display
The other specifications of these new models are not clear yet. The same is true when it comes to the availability of the E470 and E570.
