Could be faster. The EliteBook x360 1030 G3 Core i7 SKU is a perfect example of why a pricier configuration may not always be the fastest when compared to a less expensive SKU. The Core i7 CPU on our HP is measurably slower than the same model with the more affordable Core i5.

Compact 17-inch gaming laptop? The GL704GM carries the same CPU and GPU as the last generation GL703GM. So, what makes this new iteration so special? For display enthusiasts. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro is another affordable mid-range smartphone model from the Chinese electronics manufacturer. Double-edged sword Gigabyte's big 17-inch Sabre starts out with a lot of promise: The combination of a powerful new hexa core processor and a GTX 1060 should give rise to a full-fledged desktop replacement with plenty of gaming power. Room for improvement. Samsung has upgraded its flagship tablet, which is probably one of the last Android tablets to have both high-end specifications and pen input. Handbrake Deluxe. Apple finally ships the MacBook Pro 15 with the new Intel processors. They feature 6 cores and should increase the multi-core performance significantly. At least in theory, because a comparison with the predecessor shows that the advantage is not always that big.

From GTX to RTX! Nvidia has finally brought its smallest RTX model to market having initially unveiled the series at this year’s Gamescom in Cologne. Asus has kindly provided us with its overclocked RTX 2070 graphics card for the day of its release so that we can put it through its paces. The 6T element. OnePlus has announced its latest flagship killer, which is subtly different from its predecessor that we reviewed back in August. Notably, the 6T has a larger display thanks to its smaller notch, but it has dropped the headphone jack. OnePlus has carried over the same cameras from the 6 and has kept pricing broadly the same, although the base model is now $20 more expensive. That additional outlay gets you double the storage though, so it is not just an arbitrary price rise. Attractive point-and-shoot. The Umidigi Z2 Pro is one of the innumerable iPhone X clones with an attractive design and good hardware. The smartphone's distinctive feature: Two 16 MP dual cameras, front and back.

Full power with four cores. Microsoft has updated to the Surface Pro series with quad-core Kaby Lake Refresh processors, but how well will these chips cope within an 8.5-mm thick tablet? Mini laptop. The Topjoy Falcon currently listed on Kickstarter is a mini convertible with Windows 10 and an actively cooled Gemini-Lake quad-core processor. Bigger but just as sharp. Perhaps surprisingly, the new Blade 15 Base Model does a few things better than the original Advanced Model while retailing for hundreds of dollars less. Inventive smartphone. With the Find X, the Chinese Oppo smartphone manufacturer tries a new way to get a bezel-less display. Despite the very attractive exterior of the Find X, all that glitters is not gold. Our review shows the weaknesses of the bezel-less Oppo smartphone and how it fares in the comparison to the Vivo Nex.

More versatile than ever. We check out the pricier Core i7 SKU to see how it holds when up against the less expensive Core i5 SKU. Is it worth investing in the faster option? And how much better is the faster option exactly?

Low Quality. Dell's standard Chromebook 11 leaves quite a bit to be desired. A low quality display and cheap construction drag down the device. Additionally, the limits of Chrome OS and bugs with Android app compatibility leave a bad taste.

AMD-only. After some mixed reviews of their first version HP has now released a new HP 17 with all-out AMD components and an IPS panel. It does certainly offer some improvements, but does not come without any backlash.

Almost free. In a world of smartphones and tablets we may often wonder whether we actually still need a notebook. Lenovo's answer to that question is the IdeaPad 320. It is available for an impressively low $300 and is supposed to support web-browsing and office applications.

Affordable narrow bezels. The GF63 is nearly the same size and weight as the GS65 but for hundreds of dollars less. MSI has created an excellent budget gaming system that's also light enough for schoolwork and travel.

Premium or just above average? For the first time ever Lenovo placed the speakers inside a convertible's hinges. The display supports Dolby Vision, and should thus offer additional value, at least on paper. Apart from this, the C930 is equipped with well-known hardware inside a good-looking case. Surface Go competitor. The Lenovo IdeaPad D330-10IGM is a 10.1-inch convertible that has no fan but has a bright IPS touchscreen, an LTE modem and decent battery life. The Pentium Silver N5000 processor provides enough power too.

Fast enough for Full HD! Now the mining boom has subsided, enormous amounts of used graphics cards are starting to hit the market. In this review, we take a look at AMD’s Radeon RX 580 to see if it is worth buying under the circumstances.

Looking for the magic... Honor has been a well-established smartphone manufacturer in Europe for some time now. The Huawei brand also carries a notebook as of late, although it is only available in Asia for the time being. We have procured not one but two variants of the Honor Magicbook and put Intel up against AMD.

Ciao single player, hello Battle Royale. Activision and Treyarch have jumped on the Battle Royale bandwagon, developing Black Ops 4 as a multiplayer game and abandoning a story-based campaign that has been a feature of all previous Call of Duty games. Maximum display diagonal. The 6.9-inch Xiaomi Mi Max 3 offers even more display area to users than its predecessor, and the hardware has also been slightly updated. Anti-glare is better. The more expensive model of the ThinkPad X1 Extreme has been found to be a worthy competitor to the Dell XPS 15 in many respects. ThinkPad incognito. Lenovo's 10.1-inch Windows tablet offers fairly decent hardware: 128 GB storage, LTE modem, IPS panel, keyboard dock, and an active stylus. However, it comes at a price: Lenovo wants to see $600 plus tax in exchange for this particular model.

Extremely... professional? Today, we turn our sights to the workstation sibling of the critically acclaimed ThinkPad X1 Extreme. Our decked-out $4,220 configuration features a Xeon E-2176M CPU, Quadro P2000 Max-Q GPU, 2 TB NVMe SSD, and 32 GB of RAM. How does it handle our comprehensive array of tests?

Exotic. Xiaomi has now built up a proud selection of notebooks alongside its Mi smartphones. Our focus for this review is the Mi Notebook 15.6, which lacks the Pro, Air or Gaming signifiers of the Chinese manufacturer’s other notebooks. The Notebook 15.6 is the company’s cheapest and entry-level device, but it is generally unavailable in the Western world save for a few shops that carry the laptop. Office acrobat. Lenovo’s new 530 series is aimed at price-conscious users and companies that see the benefits of convertible devices. The Yoga 530-14IKB is priced competitively, but there are some compromises associated with this low cost, including the device being comparatively heavy for a convertible. A good balance. Despite cutting multiple corners, the Asus TUF FX705 is an interesting gaming notebook with a good balance of cost and performance. Find out in this review where the 17-inch model shines and which weaknesses have to be taken into account.

Back to school. The Dell Inspiron Chromebook 11 2-in-1 (also known as the Chromebook 11 3181 2-in-1) is a sturdy, well-built Chromebook targeted squarely at the education sector. While the design leaves much to be desired, it is a competent low-end machine and should be rugged enough to withstand the abuse of a classroom.

A real entertainer. The Galaxy Tab A 10.5 is Samsung's update of its mid-range Galaxy Tab A 10.1 tablet. The 10.5-inch Android device is supposed to set itself apart from its competition with its WUXGA display, Dolby Atmos sound, a family-friendly kids mode and long battery runtimes.

Kaby Lake-G workstation. As if Kaby Lake-G wasn't niche enough already, Dell has gone the extra mile by offering a workstation convertible equipped with the rare Intel-AMD CPU. The end result is one of the most powerful 15-inch convertible workstations available even if it sacrifices some common connectivity features along the way.

New name, old content. The Fujitsu LifeBook A357 is a 15.6-inch office notebook that comes with a Kaby Lake processor, an SSD and 8 GB of RAM. Moreover, the laptop also offers an okay keyboard, good battery life and an IPS screen with stable viewing angles.

Lightweight with Android Go. The Alcatel 1T 10 is a very light 10-inch tablet in the lower price segment. However, due to its affordable price you have to lower your sights considerably in terms of its features.

Top case, but what does it look like inside? HP understands how to please its customers, by creating devices with appealing designs and solid craftsmanship. The new Pavilion 14 is another premium HP laptop at an affordable price. We are also interested in how our test device performs under its sandblasted, anodized hood. Can HP’s latest Pavilion laptop cut it against the competition, or does it just look the part?

The fast Phablet. The arrival of the Mate 20 Lite heralds the next generation of Huawei’s elite-performance smartphones. Huawei has equipped the device with the brand-new HiSilicon Kirin 710 SoC, which integrates an ARM Mali-G51 MP4 among other components; we are expecting good things of both chips. Professional look, but gamer at heart. Lenovo wants to reshape its Legion series to appeal to a broader audience outside of just hardcore gamers. The Legion Y730 represents the first step in this new direction and it is subsequently the most balanced laptop in the family to date.

Fancy. HP's slim 13.3-inch subnotebook features a fancy exterior and good connectivity. Hewlett-Packard has fitted a quad-core processor and a dedicated GPU into the slim case. Good battery runtimes, a fast SSD and a matte Full HD IPS screen complete the package.

A diamond is rarely this cheap. The Archos Diamond Gamma aims to prove itself with a lot of storage space and its good single-cam. Find out in this review whether you know this phone by another name and if it is worth purchasing.

The CPU thirst of the ancient world. The new title in the Assassin’s Creed series takes players to Ancient Greece, after having been set in ancient Egypt in the series previous outing, Assassin’s Creed Origins. Darkroom The Chuwi LapBook SE is one of the most exciting budget laptops from China. The LapBook SE has an aluminum case, a Gemini Lake quad-core processor, eight hours battery life and an easily accessible M.2 drive bay for SSDs. In this review, we will determine where Chuwi has made savings to keep the LapBook SE’s price below €350 (~$402).

Rugged Kaby Lake-R. The CPU power of a traditional Ultrabook with the bells and whistles of a rugged laptop. Unless if you plan on mainly using the Getac at night, then we recommend opting for the higher-end SKU with the brighter backlight.

Tough guy. Strong in every aspect except one. The Toughbook CF-54 is one of the thinner and more portable rugged laptops in its size category to make it an excellent option for fieldwork. Unfortunately, a huge thorn prevents it from being the ideal companion for outdoor use.

More and more AI. As was the case with some previous generations, for this fifth generation Asus ZenFone, the focus is on the cameras. With AI support for everything possible—even the ringtone—and Corning Gorilla Glass covering both sides, buyers should find themselves holding a high-performance, intelligent and rugged smartphone with a dual camera. Pavilion goes Ryzen. In comparison to Intel models, AMD Ryzen processors are still rare in the mobile laptop market. This makes it even more interesting for us to have an AMD-powered HP in our office.

Business or Multimedia? Lenovo expands it ThinkPad X1-series with a 15.6-inch laptop and competes directly with the popular Dell XPS 15 as well as the Apple MacBook Pro 15. The new flagship is equipped with a high-resolution HDR screen as well as a discreet Nvidia GPU. But is this still a business laptop or rather a full-fledged multimedia device with some business features for consumers?

Complete redesign. Hewlett-Packard's Elite x2 1013 G3 is a 13-inch 2-in-1 equipped with a powerful quad-core CPU, two Thunderbolt 3 ports, a 3:2 3k display, an active stylus, and a keyboard dock.

Gigagood? The GS100 is Gigaset’s cheapest smartphone, costing 119 Euros (~$136). The device comes in a choice of bright colors and has a removable battery, but can the GS100 justify its price?

Smaller bezels, larger display. After the regular XA2 and its more powerful Ultra version, interested buyers can now select from three XA2 models. The design has been updated slightly, now offering smaller bezels as well as a 6-inch display in the 18:9 format. We clarify in our review, what else the Sony XA2 Plus can do.

Price Cruncher – The Xiaomi Pocophone F1 is a smartphone with flagship hardware, which has a good camera and long battery life but costs less than €350 (~$404). Find out in this review whether Xiaomi’s concept of an affordable flagship works and what cuts have been made to keep the cost down.

Great for the price. The latest VivoBook convertible gets more right than wrong. Though not a huge upgrade over last year's model in terms of features and internal specifications, its chassis is now sleeker and more visually appealing for its sub $800 price range.

After 6 comes 8. The latest attack on the smartphone elite by Xiaomi is called the Mi 8 Explorer Edition. On paper, the affordable flagship is the total package at a reasonable price. In this review, we will assess the Mi 8 Explorer Edition’s numerous strengths and also the weaknesses that reflect its low price.

15-inch laptop with no fans. The IdeaPad 330 is one of the most affordable 15-inch laptops out there with a starting price of just $300 USD. Our test unit today is an entry-level configuration equipped with a passively cooled Gemini Lake CPU fit for smooth 4K streaming and playback. Everything else about the notebook, however, is as barebones as it can get.

My preciousss - Apple has stuck with its “S” nomenclature even after its anniversary iPhone and has consequently followed the iPhone X with the iPhone XS. As with previous “S” models, the iPhone XS is more a technical refinement of its predecessor than a fundamental departure. Maximum. The iPhone XS Max is Apple’s largest and most expensive iPhone yet. However, Apple has not brought as many new features to the party as many would have liked. Affordable streamer. A no-hassle Windows 10 mini PC ready to stream out-of-the-box for $200 USD. The Chuwi GBox is equipped with all the basics and more to fit in any home theater setup on a budget.

Multi-functional. The robust CAT S61 puts all those who say that there are no innovations in the smartphone market to shame. However, with the built-in thermal-imaging camera, a laser distance measure, and the automatic measure of the indoor air quality, its most important features might be more useful for professional users.

Lame lump - The Chinese manufacturer Blackview sells smartphones at affordable prices that are typically attractive for fans of the outdoors. The quality and craftsmanship of the BV5800 Pro is outstanding, but our previous reviews of Blackview devices have all had a problem or two. Great display, but high temperatures. Lenovo has upgraded its flagship ThinkPad X1 Carbon for 2018. Premium Business-Multimedia Combination. Dell's XPS 15 receives a lot of attention that other manufacturers would like to get as well. Of course HP would also like to compete with Dell's premium laptop. So HP has introduced a device that aims to impress with a unibody case, business features, and powerful components into the market. A Zen of a Phone. After a series of lackluster ZenFone sales, Asus launched the ZenFone 5Z in July this year to appeal to those who value flagship-grade performance at an affordable price. The ZenFone 5Z goes against the reigning flagship-killer champion, the OnePlus 6, and it offers a similar feature set for much less dough. Does the ZenFone 5Z have what it takes to be a worthy contender to the OnePlus 6 or has Asus cut deep corners to reach more pockets? Let's find out.

Poor display, inefficient GPU. It's the least expensive 15-inch Latitude available and so cut corners are not unexpected. The number of drawbacks, however, may be a bit too much to bear. Find out what you'd be sacrificing when purchasing the Latitude 3590 instead of the pricier Latitude 5590.

A matter of settings. As one of the first PC games capable of supporting DirectX12, Shadow of the Tomb Raider should benefit significantly from DirectX 12. More performance – but also better? We already reviewed the base model of the current Dell XPS 15 9570 and now check the more expensive SKU with a faster Core i7 CPU as well as the high-resolution 4K UHD touchscreen. Cut corners. How much is a 144 Hz display worth? The Pavilion Gaming 15t is HP's latest entry in the budget gaming laptop market, designed to compete with the likes of Acer's Helio 300 and Dell's G7. While most areas of the notebook are good (including its high refresh rate screen), HP cut a few corners in their pursuit of the best budget gaming notebook.

Hardware Torture. While Monster Hunter World receives mostly praise from the press, the action role-playing title fares in parts significantly worse with gamers. Find out in our benchmark test whether the PC port was really unsuccessful or whether the gaming community is exaggerating.

Powerful subnotebook. The EliteBook 735 G5 is the smallest model of HP's AMD-exclusive business notebooks. Although it performed well in our tests, the capabilities of the Ryzen APU were not exhausted. In this review, we show why the EliteBook 735 G5 is a great business laptop regardless.

Play with honor. The first gaming smartphone from Huawei is coming to the western hemisphere: While the Honor Play does not particularly look like a gaming device, it is supposed to impress gamers with its low price. We will take a look at whether this is an advantage or disadvantage and whether the phone offers sufficient power for current games.

Let me entertain you - The Xperia XZ2 Premium is Sony’s second attempt at a flagship device under its Xperia XZ series. The XZ2 Premium has a true Ultra-HD display, great audio features, a bright dual rear-facing camera setup and plenty of other notable features too. Design at a low price. The prices for the notebooks from Lenovo’s budget IdeaPad 300 series start at about 350 Euros ($407). For this, buyers get a well-designed, portable notebook. Thin, fast, and flimsy. Despite its drawbacks, the MSI GS65 remains one of the best slim gaming notebooks currently available. Today’s updated, less expensive configuration ($1,849) features a Core i7-8750H, 16 GB of RAM, a GTX 1060, and 256 GB NVMe SSD. How does it stack up?

The better and cheaper X1. The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon G6 has joined its WQHD HDR and Core i7 equipped sibling in our offices for review. The G6 is the entry-level model of current touchscreen-equipped Carbon X1 devices. The G6 is free from the thermal issues from which its sibling suffered thanks to its less powerful CPU, but this comes at a cost to the WQHD HDR display.
