86% Dell XPS 15 7590 Laptop Review: Is the base model with Core i5 and FHD panel sufficient?

A good multimedia notebook. Dell is one of the few manufacturers that also offers its 15-inch premium notebook without a dedicated graphics card. Is the version with the integrated GPU perhaps even the better choice if you don't want to use your laptop for gaming?

Dell may have fixed Modern Standby for the XPS 15 9570, of sorts

As promised, we have tested the Modern Standby Performance Improvement Package application for the XPS 15 9750 to determine what it has changed on Dell's prosumer 15.6-inch laptop. The package rolls together several existing updates as we previously reported but makes one important change too. Dell seems to have fixed Modern Standby for the XPS 15 9750, albeit by removing one feature that some people may find useful.

Dell continues to bait and switch XPS 15 9570 owners over Modern Standby sleep issues

Dell has quietly posted an update on its support website for the XPS 15 9570 titled "Modern Standby Performance Improvement Package Application". The 66.94 MB update promises to fix Connected Modern Standby being enabled by default, a change that Dell previously claimed required re-installing Windows 10. The company labels the update as urgent, with it apparently updating machines to BIOS 1.12.0 too. The update is available to download now.

The Dell XPS 13 9390 does not exist. Here's why

Dell has been slowly leaving behind its last generation XPS 9380 and XPS 9570 series by renaming its successors the XPS 7390 and XPS 7590 instead, respectively. The change may seem confusing at first glance, but it makes sense when looking at Dell's mobile lineup as a whole.

Because of the way OLED works, it may be worth changing white backgrounds to something darker especially if your commonly used applications or web pages are predominately white. At the most extreme, white at maximum brightness will consume almost 14 W more than if the screen were only black.

Lowering the maximum voltage to 700 mV was found to not only allow longer sustained performance but also lowered the operating voltage to 68 °C.
