There has been an update in regard to the release schedule for Dell’s new XPS 13 2-in-1 7390 convertible. It was originally expected to be made available on July 10, but it seems potential purchasers will have to wait a bit longer to get their hands on the upgraded device. The XPS 13 7390 should be released in late July or early August.

We already reported that the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 7390 was likely to be delayed, with Frank Azor tweeting that the device would be launched on August 2. However, it’s possible that specific date is not set in stone, as the XPS chief has replied with “end of July – early August” to a new enquiry about the convertible’s release.

The Dell XPS 13 7390 was looking particularly appealing after we learned the initial details about the convertible a little while ago, with features such as an innovative display, enhanced cooling system, and room for an Ice Lake SoC with impressive Gen 11 Iris Plus Graphics likely to attract new customers. However, it seems news of the soldered-on SSD has tarnished some of the treasure the XPS 13 7390 was offering.

No reason for the delay has yet been offered by Dell; it’s possible some final finishing touches are still being added to the XPS 13 7390. Hopefully, the 2019 version of the 2-in-1 will have enough positive qualities to it that the downside of a permanently fitted storage solution won’t be too much of a sore sticking point.
