LG finally rolls out Android Pie to the unlocked V40 ThinQ
It may have taken almost a month since the V40 ThinQ received Android 9.0 Pie on Verizon, but LG has finally gotten around to releasing it for the unlocked variant too. Specifically, we are talking about the LM-V405QA here, with the AT&T and U.S. Cellular models all having received the update since May.
The software update has been named V40520A_03, although you may see it listed without the _03 as below and is a 3.92 GB download. The upgrade to Android 9.0 Pie brings gesture navigation and camera app refinements to the V40 ThinQ among other improvements, albeit with only the May 1, 2019, set of Android security patches for some reason.
The update should be available to download over the air (OTA) or via the LG Bridge now and just sneaks in within LG's commitment to delivering Android 9.0 Pie to the V40 ThinQ by the end of Q2 2019. The device should eventually receive an update to Android Q too, but we would not recommend holding your breath over the timing of that release. Next up for the facelift to Android 9.0 Pie for LG is the V20, which it has promised to deliver in Q3 2019. So, we'll see you in September then, LG?
