AMD’s CTO Mark Papermaster announced that the Vega GPUs and the Ryzen CPUs will get 12 nm version in early 2018. The 12 nm Vega chips should compete with Nvidia's GeForce GTX 2000 series that are expected to be released in early 2018, while the 12 nm Ryzen CPUs will be AMD's response to Intel's 10 nm Ice Lake processors, until it releases the 7 nm Ryzen 2 products in late 2018.

Scientists envision the optical computer - light and sound waves transformed into data

A group of researchers from the University of Sydney in Australia have developed a "photonic microchip" that converts light pulses into data, via sound waves. The chip does not produce any heat, it is immune to electromagnetic interference, and it's supposed to be 20 times faster than current CPUs.

The iOS 11 update is just around the corner for compatible Apple devices. Users of legacy 32-bit apps need to be aware of the fact that iOS 11 will not allow execution of 32-bit apps unless they have been updated by the developer to support the 64-bit architecture. Going forward iOS, and eventually macOS, will support only 64-bit applications.
