ZTE Tempo X hits Boost Mobile for just $79.99 USD, features a Snapdragon 210 processor
ZTE Tempo arrived over a year ago when Boost Mobile introduced it as a cheap handset with Mexico roaming and hotspot capabilities. Boost Mobile has quite a few ZTE devices in its portfolio, for example the Warp Elite, the Prestige 2, or the Boost MAX+. The new Tempo X is just another low-end smartphone that debuts as the most affordable Android Nougat-powered handset featuring a removable battery.
ZTE Tempo X is powered by the outdated Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 SoC, which is an entry-range chip which was introduced about two years ago. This handset comes with a 5-inch touchscreen display with only 854 x 480 pixels, it features a 2 MP camera for selfies and sports a 5 MP image shooter on the back. The memory and storage space (1 GB and 8 GB) are also outdated by today's standards, but at least the Tempo X comes with a microSD slot that supports cards up to 32 GB. The 2,200 mAh removable battery provides enough power so that the hardware setup mentioned above can deliver a talk time of up to 14.7 hours.
Priced at US$79.99, the ZTE Tempo X is only available in black. Although it comes with Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box, there is no chance for it to ever receive Android 8.0 Oreo.
Although the ZTE Tempo X seems like a good deal, the truth is that only US$20 more can get you the ZTE MAX XL, which is a 6-inch handset with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 415 processor, twice the storage space and memory, better cameras, and a fingerprint reader.
