Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 laptop GPU handily outperforms last-gen counterpart in Geekbench despite throttling

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 laptop model has shown up on Geekbench with 16 GB VRAM and 60 SMs. It offers a decent performance uplift over the RTX 4080 even though it appears to be running well below its maximum boost clock.

New RTX 5080 appears mighty impressive in early testing with 4x Frame Generation resulting in insane performance increase

The newly announced RTX 5080 desktop GPU is looking like a solid upgrade over the RTX 4080 Super thanks to the enticing price of just $999 and the promise a big performance boost with DLSS 4 Frame Generation. According to some preliminary testing done by Digital Foundry, the 4x DLSS 4 Frame Generation indeed gives a major performance uplift and brings some notable image quality gains.

Nvidia DLSS 4 promises 8x better gaming performance as well as upgrades for older GeForce RTX GPUs

Nvidia DLSS 4 promises significantly better gaming performance by generating three out of four frames using artificial intelligence. Users of older graphics cards back to the GeForce RTX 2000 are also expected to benefit from DLSS 4.
