RTX 5060 specs leak: Potential $299 RTX 50 GPU could be impressive value vs RTX 4060 with 25% more CUDA cores
We already know a fair bit about the hardware details of the RTX 5050 and the RTX 5060 Ti thanks to leaks that have appeared online. The latest in the saga of the RTX 50 leaks is a series of posts on X by kopite7kimi, in which the leaker revealed the specs of the RTX 5060 Ti, the RTX 5050, and the RTX 5060. As we’ve already covered the RTX 5060 Ti and the RTX 5050, it is time to take a look at the RTX 5060.
RTX 5060 specs
The RTX 5060, as the naming suggests, sits between the RTX 5050 and the RTX 5060 Ti. As such, the GPU will have more CUDA cores and a higher power draw than the RTX 5050 but less than the RTX 5060 Ti. According to kopite, RTX 5060’s GB206-250 GPU packs 3,840 CUDA cores and has a TDP of 150 W.
Compared to the RTX 4060, the RTX 5060 reportedly enjoys 25% more CUDA cores and a 30% higher TDP. For the memory subsystem, the RTX 5060 allegedly features 8 GB of GDDR7 VRAM over a 128-bit wide bus. While the bus width and memory capacity are the same as the RTX 4060, the memory is supposed to be 28 Gbps GDDR7, an increase of 65% over the 17 Gbps of the RTX 4060.
RTX 5060 vs RTX 4060 performance
Before we get into discussing the possible performance of the RTX 5060, it is important to remember that this is pure speculation based on the limited hardware details we have. For example, we still don’t know the final clock speeds of the RTX 5060.
With that out of the way, it is reasonable to expect the RTX 5060 to be more than 25% or even 30% faster than the RTX 4060 based on the CUDA core and bandwidth increase alone. For instance, the RTX 5080 features 10.5% more CUDA cores and 34% more bandwidth than the RTX 4080. Per our testing of the RTX 5080 FE, the card is around 19% faster in synthetic tests vs its predecessor.
Based on this, it is quite possible that a 25% increase in CUDA cores and higher bandwidth can make the RTX 5060 25-30% faster than the RTX 4060.
Whatever the case ends up being, if Nvidia does manage to launch the RTX 5060 at the rumored $299 price with a more than 20% performance gain over the RTX 4060, the card could prove to be a hit with fans.
