The GeForce RTX 5070 is expected to launch on March 5, but it looks like the Founders Edition model will not arrive till later this month. Nvidia has reportedly informed reviewers about the delay just a couple hours before the reviews drop. The RTX 5070 was originally scheduled to launch in late February but were pushed to early March. Despite the Founders Edition being pushed back further, gamers will still be able to grab board partner cards on launch day.
Andreas Schilling, an editor at hardwareluxx.de, shared on X that Nvidia informed him about the delay for the GeForce RTX 5070 Founders Edition just 2.5 hours before the reviews drop. He stated that the GPU will be available later in March, as per information from Nvidia. Schilling further added that this delay will affect US and European markets. Nvidia didn’t seem to have shared a reason for the delay, just like it didn’t when the card was originally delayed from late February to early March.
However, board partners don’t seem to be affected by this delay and will still have the RTX 5070 available for purchase via retailers and official websites on launch day, March 5. Gamers can try to grab GPUs from Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, and other participating brands, keyword being “try.” There have been multiple reports of abysmal stocks with some retailers not getting any inventory on day one.
Meanwhile, AMD seems to be in a better place with its Radeon RX 9070 series slated for a March 6 launch. It was recently reported that if the Radeon RX 9070 series GPUs sell out shortly after launch, it would mean that more of them have been sold to the public than the RTX 50-series combined.
