Days after the AMD Radeon RX 9070 series release date, the industry is digesting initial sales figures. While fewer GPUs sold at MSRP than expected, that hasn't deterred gamers. Retailers are reporting that AMD's generous stocks have already dwindled. The RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT dominate Amazon's list of the best-selling GPUs, especially in Europe.
RDNA 4 graphics cards are on their way to becoming the preferred choice of UK gamers. Two Sapphire Pulse RX 9070 XT models top Amazon UK's charts, above the Gigabyte Radeon RX 9070 XT. The MSI Inspire 3X OC RTX 5080 is the only Nvidia RTX 50 series card in the top 10. These rankings align with claims from Overlockers UK, which sold 5,000 RX 9070 series GPUs on March 6th.
Amazon's German site tells a similar story, with the Asus Prime RX 9070 being the top seller. Meanwhile, the MSI Ventus 3X OC RTX 5070 Ti is still in first place in the United States. However, its RX 9070 series rivals are gradually moving up the charts.
Best-selling lists at Amazon update hourly and seem to give added weight to newer products. Best Buy may emphasize total sales, as Nvidia GPUs remain the more popular purchases. Still, if AMD can regularly restock the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT, the green team must boost production high to compete.
Some excitement on the RX 9070 release date diminished when stores listed the GPUs. Without an AMD reference card to compete with, manufacturers set RX 9070 XT price levels above the $599 MSRP. Nevertheless, the AMD GPUs look like a strong value, with the $749.99 Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti facing a similar situation.
Nvidia can take comfort in the fact that AMD has no answer for the scarce RTX 5090. The next battle appears to involve lower-end graphics cards, as the RTX 5050 and RTX 5060 may arrive in the next few months.
