Even though more than half of Nvidia's GeForce RTX 50 lineup has been launched, getting one has proven to be tricky -more so if you're eyeing up a high-end SKU like the RTX 5090. Those looking to buy pre-built PCs just for the coveted GPUs won't be much better off. PowerGPU, a North Carolina-based system integrator, has just shown off how bad the situation is.
In a recent X post captioned "AMD inventory vs Nvidia inventory", we can see a pile of about 70+ AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT graphics cards stacked next to one lonesome GeForce RTX 5090. At first glance, it might seem like hyperbole, and PowerGPU probably has a few stashed in the back. But, a quick look at the company's PC building tool reveals a 3-4 month waiting period for the RTX 5090 and a two-month period for the RTX 5080.
On the other hand, the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 are available to install initially, as are Nvidia's GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070. The situation varies on an OEM-by-OEM basis, though. For example, CyberPowerPC, another system integrator, is all out of RTX 5090-powered PCs, but they're freely available on Alienware and Origin PC's websites.
Either way, it looks like Nvidia is favouring some companies over others. End users, on the other hand, still get nothing and probably won't for the coming weeks. But, the wait might be worth it if the 32 GB Radeon RX 9070 XTX, a graphics card AMD insists isn't real, drops sometime in H1 2025.
