Verdict: RTX 4080 and RX 7900 XTX killer held back by stark market realities
Nvidia's third best Blackwell GPU this year, the RTX 5070 Ti, does not come in a Founders Edition variant, but a good number of partner cards are available, including the MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC.
The RTX 5070 Ti does have a lot going for it, especially considering that it is just a cut-down GB203 GPU with the same, albeit somewhat slower, 16 GB GDDR7 memory interface. Compared to the RTX 5080 FE, you'll be losing about 10% performance with the RTX 5070 Ti — not bad considering the 25% price difference at MSRP.
Being a Ventus card, the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC does not sport any bells and whistles. However, it is built well and the SFF sizing will appeal to many.
The RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC manages to pull itself ahead of the RTX 4080 Founders Edition in synthetic benchmarks, which is to be expected given the generational improvements. The uplift from the RTX 4070 Ti is pretty significant as well.
Gaming sees the gap between the RTX 5070 Ti and the RTX 4080 widen in pure raster performance while being a hair's breadth faster than the Radeon RX 7900 XTX, which is the current flagship from AMD's stables.
With ray tracing enabled, the RX 7900 XTX further drifts away from the RTX 5070 Ti. Essentially, if you are a 1440p gamer, the RTX 5070 Ti is a no brainer. 4K gamers would do just fine too, with an average of 20% gains from the RTX 4070 Ti. Some upscaling help can enable the RTX 5070 Ti to drive even more frames at 4K.
The RTX 5070 Ti's biggest draw comes from its support for the latest Nvidia technologies like DLSS 4 multi-frame generation. As gimmicky as it may seem, it does give the RTX 5070 Ti an advantage in supported titles, allowing it to outperform the RTX 4090's native rendering.
The MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC has a lot going for it. However, you will also have to contend with the lack of extra TGP headroom, VBIOS switching, and of course, RGB.
MSI's cooling system for the Ventus seems pretty run-of-the-mill, but it does a good job in keeping the thermals under check without major throttling worries. What is concerning, however, are the high fan noise emissions under load.
The MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC definitely merits a consideration if you're in the market for Nvidia's latest card. There is no viable alternative in this segment for now, but this card is only lucrative if you can get one at the Nvidia-mandated $749 MSRP or at MSI's $830 pricing at the very least, stock availability notwithstanding.
Anything higher — they will surely be — and the value proposition drops significantly. There are all sorts of RTX 5070 Ti options out there that retail at ludicrously jacked up prices for no real benefit. We suggest waiting to see what AMD has in store with the Radeon RX 9000 series due in early March before taking the plunge.

Price and Availability
There's some confusion regarding the MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16G Ventus 3X OC's pricing. According to Nvidia, this card should be getting the $749 MSRP, but MSI's website lists it at $829.99.
In India, the RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC is officially priced at ₹82,000 inclusive of taxes and comes with a three-year warranty. Expect some markups while purchasing from local retailers, though.

We now have the arrival of Nvidia's third Blackwell GPU, the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti. Unlike the RTX 5080 and the RTX 5090, the RTX 5070 Ti does not come in a Founders Edition variant.
However, Nvidia's add-in board (AiB) partners have a variety of RTX 5070 Ti variants lined up, ranging from MSRP to custom pricing.
The RTX 5070 Ti is cut from the same GB203 die that powers the RTX 5080 but with nearly 17% fewer (8,960) CUDA cores. On the bright side, the RTX 5070 Ti offers 6% more CUDA cores than the RTX 4070 Ti Super.
The use of the GB203 GPU means that the RTX 5070 Ti shares the same 16 GB GDDR7 memory subsystem as the RTX 5080, although it operates at a slower 896 GB/s bandwidth.
For our testing, we have with us the MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC. MSI's Ventus series is aimed at offering a no-frills GPU experience, and our RTX 5070 Ti sample is no exception.

A closer look at the MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC
The MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC measures 303 x 121 x 49 mm and weighs a portable 1.07 kg, making it a 2-slot card that finds home in many small form factor (SFF) builds.
The plastic front shroud feels sturdy, and the metal backplate offers a large cutout for effective heat dissipation.
The RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC is completely RGB bling-free. Even the "GeForce RTX" and "MSI" logos on the top of the card are just painted letters.
Connectivity options include 3x DisplayPort 2.1b-outs and 1x HDMI 2.1b-out. A 12VHWPR connector supplies the required power. A 12VHPWR to 2x 8-pin adapter is offered in the box for use with non-ATX 3.x PSUs.
There's no VBIOS switch to toggle performance modes on the fly either, so you will have to rely on MSI Center or MSI Afterburner for any kind of GPU tuning.
Inbox accessories are minimal — you only get a GPU support stand, a 12VHPWR to 2x 8-pin adapter, and the quick start guide.
The RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC is rated to boost up to 2,482 MHz, which is 30 MHz higher than Nvidia's official 2,452 MHz for the RTX 5070 Ti.
This can be cranked further higher to 2,497 MHz by enabling Extreme Performance mode in MSI Center.
Unfortunately, the power limits are capped at 100% with no scope of increase.
The test bench: RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC in combination with the Core i9-14900K
We used the following components to evaluate the RTX 5070 Ti's performance:
- Cooler Master MasterFrame 700 open test bench
- Intel Core i9-14900K with Intel Extreme profile set in the BIOS
- Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Master motherboard
- Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus Gen4 2 TB NVMe SSD and 2x Crucial MX500 1 TB SATA SSDs for OS, benchmarks, and games
- 2x 16 GB Kingston Fury Renegade DDR5-6400 RAM with timings 32-39-39-80 at 1.40 V
- Aorus FO32U2P 4K 240 Hz QD-OLED monitor
- Thermaltake TH420 V2 Ultra EX ARGB AiO cooler
- Cooler Master MVE Gold V2 1250 ATX 3.0 fully modular PSU
Windows 11 24H2 with the latest patches, together with Nvidia Game Ready Driver version 572.43 issued to the press was used.

Synthetic benchmarks: Sits right between the RX 7900 XTX and RTX 4080
The MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC is 5% faster than the RTX 4080 Founders Edition in cumulative 3DMark and Unigine tests while trailing the Radeon RX 7900 XTX by the same distance.
The RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC is also a good 26% faster compared to the Aorus GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Master. For perspective, the RTX 4070 Ti was $50 more expensive at launch back in the day.
For a 17% reduction in CUDA cores, the RTX 5070 Ti is 11% slower overall than the RTX 5080 Founders Edition in synthetic benchmarks.

Interestingly, the RTX 5070 Ti's token generation performance in MLPerf is not far from that of the RTX 5080 FE and 11% faster than the RX 7900 XTX.
The RTX 4080 FE and the RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X essentially vie for the same spot in Blender 3.3 Classroom CUDA and Optix workloads.

Gaming performance: Multi-frame gen pulls RTX 5070 Ti ahead of the RTX 4090
The RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC and the Radeon RX 7900 XTX deliver comparable performance in cumulative raster gaming tests at 1080p, 1440p, and 4K Ultra settings.
However, the RX 7900 XTX sees good gains, as much as 35% in 1440p Ultra, over the RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC in Alan Wake 2. The RDNA 3 flagship also has an edge in Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty, Assassin's Creed Mirage, and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.
Overall, the RTX 5070 Ti offers a good 20% gen-on-gen gain in gaming over the RTX 4070 Ti at 4K without the use of upscaling technologies.

Ray tracing performance
The RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC achieves a good 20% higher fps than the RTX 4080 FE with path tracing enabled at 1440p in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. However, the 16 GB VRAM limitation means that cranking up the resolution to 4K with path tracing results in a slideshow even with DLSS and frame generation turned on.
Other games such as Black Myth: Wukong see relatively smaller gains with the RTX 5070 Ti versus the RTX 4080 FE.
Enabling frame generation is necessary to achieve playable frames in texture-heavy titles like Black Myth: Wukong and Alan Wake 2, especially at high ray tracing settings.

DLSS 4 multi-frame generation
While all RTX GPUs going back to the Turing generation support DLSS 4, only the RTX 50 Blackwell GPUs can do multi-frame generation (MFG).
MFG propels the RTX 5070 Ti well-ahead of the RTX 4090 in supported games. For instance, while the RTX 4090 manages close to 90 fps in Star Wars Outlaws at 4K with ultra ray tracing and DLSS frame generation and ray reconstruction enabled, the RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC can achieve 114 fps at the same settings with 4x MFG.
Currently, only a limited number of titles natively support MFG on RTX 50 GPUs. Nevertheless, the Nvidia app offers a way to force MFG in many more compatible games.

Emissions: Good thermals, but high fan noise under load
The RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC does not feature any fancy cooling setup, but it gets the basics right.
According to MSI, the RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC features a nickel-plated copper baseplate along with square heatpipes to ensure effective heat transfer from the GPU.
Stress test
Stressing with FurMark (1,280x720, no AA) sees the RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC hitting boosts of 2,715 MHz with a peak power consumption of 300 W and average core temperature of 69.2 °C.
In a more real-world stress like Cyberpunk 2077 at 1080p Ultra, the RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC can boost up to 2,857 MHz at a much lower 266 W power draw while maintaining the average core temperature at 65.5 °C.

The cooling system appears to be performing effectively as demonstrated by relatively stable frame rates in Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty at both 1080p Ultra and 4K Ultra settings.
Surface temperatures
Surface temperatures are easily manageable, with the front shroud remaining relatively cool and the backplate well under the 45 °C under load at an ambient temperature of 23 °C.
We measured close to 49 °C around the 12VHPWR connector, which is normal and should ease any worries about excessive heat.
Noise levels
The RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC's triple Torx 5.0 fans do a good job in keeping the GPU cool. The fans stop completely when the GPU is idle in the default fan curve.
However, the fans can get quite loud under load. In FurMark, we recorded a maximum sound pressure level (SPL) of 51.56 dB(A). The noise levels during gaming are relatively lower at 43.22 dB(A).
There is no dedicated VBIOS profile switch, so you will have to rely on MSI Center or MSI Afterburner and the likes to define custom fan curves if needed.

Energy management: Tangible efficiency gains over RTX 4070 Ti and RX 7900 XTX
The RTX 5070 Ti's power consumption from the wall under FurMark load is not too different from that of the RTX 4070 Ti. Curiously, the RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC draws 14% and 23% more power than the RTX 4080 FE while playing Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3, respectively at 1080p Ultra.
That being said, the RTX 5070 Ti offers a tangible 14% efficiency gains over the RTX 4070 Ti in Cyberpunk 2077. However, this narrows down to just 4% in The Witcher 3.

The MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC has the potential to be a hit with mainstream gamers, thanks to its impressive performance uplifts over the RTX 4070 Ti and even the RTX 4080 and RX 7900 XTX.
However, the true benefits of this card only become apparent if it can be bought at or close to the $749 MSRP pricing.
