Asus has just launched a graphics card that’s more jewelry than hardware: the ROG Astral RTX 5090 Dhahab Edition — a gold-plated GPU priced between approximately $7,000 and $10,600. The card features 6.5 grams of 24-karat gold and a design inspired by Middle Eastern culture, including Arabic calligraphy and skyline motifs.

Asus has pushed the boundaries of luxury gaming hardware with the release of its new ROG Astral RTX 5090 Dhahab Edition, a premium graphics card that features real 24K gold and comes with a starting price tag of $7,000.

The product is being marketed toward gamers and collectors in the Middle East, where it will be sold exclusively. The Dhahab Edition ("Dhahab" meaning "gold" in Arabic) incorporates 6.5 grams of 999 fineness (24K) gold in its construction. As of May 11, 2025, the market value of this gold is estimated at approximately $696 (based on $107.15 per gram).

The graphics card was introduced at an event in Riyadh on February 5, 2025, and recently became available for purchase. The price varies by country: approximately 26,000 to 30,000 SAR ($6,700–$8,000), 5,000 JOD ($7,100), and 38,800 AED ($10,600). This pricing is considerably higher than the $1,999 MSRP for Nvidia's RTX 5090. However, when you consider that the standard ROG Astral RTX 5090 is currently listed on Amazon for over $4,700, the gold-plated version’s premium doesn’t seem quite as extravagant.

According to Asus, the design of the Dhahab Edition is themed "From Sands to Skies," intended to reflect Middle Eastern culture and its development. The card features a gold-colored shroud, heatsink, and backplate, incorporating a skyline silhouette and Arabic calligraphy, which Asus states symbolizes "strength, courage, and unity."

The ROG Astral RTX 5090 Dhahab Edition includes several specific hardware features. It utilizes Asus’s quad-fan cooling system (three in the front and one in the back), which the company claims increases airflow and pressure. Other cooling elements include a vapor chamber with milled pathways, engineered fin spacing, MaxContact technology for an increased heat spreader surface area, and phase-change thermal pads. The card is also equipped with specific power delivery components, a protective PCB coating, a die-cast frame, and a metal GPU bracket.

For those who find the RTX 5090 Dhahab Edition beyond their budget but still want a taste of this gold-infused luxury, reports indicate that Asus may release an ROG Astral RTX 5080 Dhahab Edition. This version is anticipated to feature a similar design and be exclusive to the same region, with a lower — though still high-end — price compared to the RTX 5090 model.
