Nvidia has introduced a new program aimed at giving gamers the chance to buy an RTX 5090 and the RTX 5080. Titled "Verified Priority Access", the program gives gamers the opportunity to snag either the RTX 5090 or the RTX 5080 directly from Nvidia.

Nvidia launched the RTX 5090 and the RTX 5080 on January 30th. However, aside from a lucky few, the majority of gamers who wanted an RTX 5090/5080 haven’t been able to buy one due to debilitating stock shortages. One look at retailers like Newegg, Amazon, and Best Buy confirms that there isn’t any RTX 5090/5080 GPU to be had at the official $1,999 and $999 MSRPs.

While these supply issues are expected to improve over time, no respite is in sight in the short term. However, Nvidia has now launched the “Verified Priority Access” program for gamers who wish to purchase an RTX 5090 or an RTX 5080 GPU.

The program works much like the ones operated by luxury car manufacturers like Ferrari which give loyal customers the chance to buy one of the brand’s premier offerings. For instance, Ferrari sells their LaFerrari hypercar only through an invitation.

When the Verified Priority Access program goes live next week, Nvidia will invite selected gamers and content creators to purchase the RTX 5090/5080 Founders Edition GPUs through the company’s official marketplace.

Nvidia Verified Priority Access eligibility

The Verified Priority Access program is only open to Nvidia members who had created an account before or on January 30, 2025, at 6 AM Pacific Time. Eligible users can then register their interest on this form. Nvidia will then notify the selected users through an email, following which they can purchase one RTX 5090 or RTX 5080 from Team Green’s marketplace.

Unfortunately, the Priority Access program is only available to users based in the United States. While this is to be expected since the US is Nvidia’s biggest market, the news is pretty depressing for gamers based in other regions who are also experiencing GeForce supply shortages.
