One of Zotac’s new RTX 5090 graphics cards has just achieved a winning bid of $6,600 on eBay. The board in question is the Zotac Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 Solid Overclocked Triple Fan SKU, which is currently listed (but unavailable) for a price of $2,249.99 on Micro Center. The reseller of this particular graphics card stated that they had just bought it at Micro Center, so within a couple of days this person has raked in well over $4,000 profit – thanks to an astonishing 193% markup.
There are always instances of scalpers and resellers marking hot products such as the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 for ridiculous “buy it now” fixed prices, as we have already reported, but this was an active eBay auction for an AIB RTX 5090 that went on to sell for $6,600. The Zotac board isn’t even one of the most expensive of its type, with units such as the Asus Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 Astral LC card being sold for $3,099.99 at Micro Center. A 193% markup on that price would put the Asus card at a mind-blowing $9,083.
It appears a similar picture has emerged in Japan, with PC enthusiasts sharing and complaining about reseller demands on auction sites such as Yahoo Auctions. At the time of writing, there is an MSI GeForce RTX 5090 unit with an “instant decision” fixed price of 1,000,000 yen, or about $6,445, while another Gaming Trio board from MSI has attracted plenty of bids so far (33) and currently sits on a price of 651,000 yen, or just under $4,200, with around 18 hours still left for wealthy or desperate gamers to fill some reseller’s pockets.
