Dream Machines gaming laptop with AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX3D, RTX 5090 and external water cooling revealed
Dream Machines is still a relatively unknown company which offers laptops based on Clevo and Tongfang barebones, similar to Schenker and XMG. Some of these notebooks offer a lot of gaming performance, which can also be said of a brand-new model that is powered by the AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX3D.
AMD's latest flagship gaming processor is still relatively rare in the laptop market, but it should be extremely quick thanks to its 16 Zen 5 performance cores with boost clock frequencies of up to 5.4 GHz and 128MB of L3 cache. The maxed-out configuration pairs this powerful AMD processor to the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 laptop GPU with 24GB GDDR7 VRAM and a TGP of 175 watts. If this machine can keep its components properly cooled under load, it should be one of the fastest gaming laptops in the world.
Dream Machines’ gaming notebook further features a 16-inch 16:10 IPS display with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, a 300Hz refresh rate and decent brightness of 500 nits. The sRGB color space is fully covered as well. Additionally, the laptop can be equipped with up to 32GB DDR5 RAM and a 1 TB PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSD, but a secondary M.2 slot can be used to easily expand the mass storage after purchase.
Like many AMD-powered notebooks, the 5.4-lb laptop does not support Thunderbolt 4 but relies on two regular USB-C ports with up to 10 Gbit/s. Alternatively, DisplayPort 2.1a, HDMI 2.1, three USB-A ports and 2.5 Gbit/s Ethernet are available in terms of connectivity. The spec sheet also mentions 2 x 2 watt stereo speakers and a 1080p webcam. The RTX 5090 laptop can also be equipped with an external water cooling solution, which the company calls "Dream Waterfall".
Price and availability
Dream Machines is now accepting pre-orders for the RT5090-16NA25 at its official online store, but the manufacturer cannot provide an exact shipping date just yet. Nvidia says that the mobile GeForce RTX 5090 is expected to ship in March, while AMD expects the aforementioned Ryzen 9 CPU to hit the market in the first half of 2025.
Either way, the configuration with the Ryzen 9 9955HX3D, GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU, 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD is listed for $3,289.
