It is clear from videos and still shots of the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 32GB GDDR7 OC Edition card that it is a mighty beast, which is confirmed by the officially listed dimensions of 357.6 x 149.3 x 76 mm or 14.1 x 5.9 x 3 inches (compare with Nvidia’s RTX 5090 FE at 304 x 137 x 48 mm or 11.9 x 5.3 x 1.9 inches). Now, a video from Bilibili, pointed out by @harukaze5719, has demonstrated what a giant the soon-to-be-released Astral GeForce RTX 5090 really is.
The scales in the video reach a peak measurement of 3.042 kg before settling to 3.040 kg, which is equivalent to 6.7 pounds. According to the World Health Organization, the average full-term birth weight for a female baby is 3.2 kg (7 lbs.) and 3.3 kg for a male (7.3 lbs.). PC builders will have to think carefully before adding an Astral GeForce RTX 5090 to their setup, as the hefty weight will add to other considerations, including its size and demanding power requirements (Asus recommends a 1,000-W PSU to keep this particular baby well fed).
The price for this custom GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card has not been revealed yet, but there is speculation that such a board as the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 could command a price of around $2,500 or even much higher (the ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 is currently $2,899 on Amazon). Considering Nvidia lists the FE equivalent starting at $1,999, it’s safe to say there will be a few hundred dollars added to cover the costs of the premium features that are included. The 3.8-slot Astral GeForce RTX 5090 offers 28 Gbps of memory speed and sports a quad-fan design, a phase change GPU thermal pad, and a patented vapor chamber to help keep those high operating temperatures under control.
