The Samsung SSD 980 500GB is a mid range SSD in the M.2 2280 format. It uses the PCIe standard and features no DRAM (compared to the 980 PRO) and is therefore noticeably slower. It uses Samsung 3D-NAND TLC with 128 layers (V-NAND v6) and the Samsung Pablo controller. The maximaum performance is rated at 3100 MB/s read and 2600 MB/s write (SLC cached).
