The Authorain NV900-1T is a low-end 1 TB NVMe SSD that we first encountered in October 2024. This M.2 2280 storage solution is built around the SM2263ENG controller that was brought to life in 2017. As such, the latter is limited to PCIe 3.0 speeds. It appears it has no DRAM for caching purposes, either meaning the drive will slow down significantly once it gets filled with data.

Authorain isn't a proper brand that has a website or international recognition; as of Oct 2024, the Ninkear A15 Pro and A16 Pro are the only systems to sport such SSDs.

Performance

Its performance is pretty disappointing, as far as 2024 SSDs go. With a sequential read rate of around 2 GB/s (the writes are 25% lower than that), the Authorain is fast enough for many day-to-day activities (it's certainly faster than any SATA SSD) but those expecting things to load instantly may want to temper their expectations just a little.
