League of Legends (LoL) - Laptop and Desktop Benchmarks

Runs and runs and runs...smoothly. The free-to-play MOBA, which saw the light of day almost 10 years ago and broke the 100-million-player mark in 2016, still remains very low-maintenance in 2019. Smoothly playable across the graphics card landscape of recent years, League of Legends also delights gamers with older hardware. However, one can't expect much in terms of graphics quality in such games.

Will the GeForce Super series eventually come to laptops? Probably not

The higher power requirements of the GeForce Power series reduce the chances of it debuting on gaming laptops in the near future. Very few existing chassis designs are able to support something as demanding as the 250 W RTX 2080 Super especially when considering that the standard mobile RTX 2080 is just 80 W to 150 W.

Not worth it: AMD Ryzen 7 3750H is only 4 to 8 percent faster than the Ryzen 5 3550H

While raw performance is comparable to a Core i5-8300H as designed, the Ryzen 7 3750H offers almost no tangible benefits over the Ryzen 5 3550H. The performance differences are so incredibly minor between the two SKUs that AMD could have just launched with one SKU only to make life simpler.

We're tired of gaming laptops sounding like hair dryers. New Microsoft folding Windows device patent reveals elegant hinge solution

Microsoft is sure taking its time with the announcement of its rumored foldable Surface devices, but the company may have a good reason for this. The latest USPTO patent detailing an improved hinge system for foldable devices points to the fact that Microsoft does not want to release foldable devices with half-backed folding mechanisms similar to those plaguing the initial Samsung Galaxy Fold wave.

Opinion | Razer may want to consider a recall for their Blade and Blade Pro AC adapters

June 27 Update: Added comment in response to Razer's communications with NBC. We recently noted in our 2019 Razer Blade Pro review that its AC adapter hit the hottest temperature we've yet to measure on a gaming notebook, 67C. Based on historical evidence from Razer's 2017-2018 chargers melting or catching fire and the fact that the 2019 Razer Blade Pro's adapter is even hotter, I believe it may be prudent for the Singapore-based company to consider a recall — at least perhaps for adapters from their 2017-2018 Blade and Blade Pro systems.
