Dell has refreshed the G7 17. Like its smaller sibling, the G7 17 has gained Intel Comet Lake-H processors and new NVIDIA GeForce GPU options from which to choose. Dell aims to cover all bases by offering the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti, GTX 1660 Ti, RTX 2060 and RTX 2070 Max-Q from which to choose. These GPUs can be paired with the Core i5-10300H, Core i7-10750H or Core i9-10980HK, along with up to 16 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD.
The design of this year's model has been overhauled, too. The display now attaches to the base of the device via a centrally-mounted hinge, while the fins from last year's model have all but disappeared save for the rear of the base unit. Additionally, Dell has redistributed the ports, with the Thunderbolt 3 port and power connector having swapped places. Dell has also given its logo a multi-coloured makeover and has added an RGB LED strip to the front of the laptop. Finally, Dell has switched to full-sized arrow keys for the new G7 17 and has added a speaker grille above the keyboard.
Moreover, the new G7 17 can be equipped with three displays options. The entry-level model is a 1080p and 144 Hz IPS panel, which can be upgraded to a 300 Hz display of the same panel type and resolution. Both peak at 300 nits, for reference. There is no optional 4K OLED panel as there is with the new G7 15. However, while this is a 400 nit panel, its refresh rate tops out at 60 Hz. Underpinning all this is a 56 Wh or 97 Wh battery. The new G7 17 is available to order now in the US from US$1,429.99. The device will also be available in multiple regions.
Update
Dell has since confirmed that it has also released an RTX 2070 SUPER SKU. This version will be available with 32 GB of RAM, too.
