Ahead of its scheduled October 4 debut, Google's upcoming Pixel 8 Pro flagship phone has now surfaced on Geekbench. As is typical with the Tensor lineup, CPU performance lags behind the competition, but still manages to perform about 20% better than last year's model.

Since the iPhone 15 Pro rolled out to customers last week, reports quickly started to emerge that were overheating. Renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has pointed the finger at the iPhone’s internal design, but not all iPhone 15 Pro users are reporting the problem. What gives?

The iPhone 15 series has now been subjected to battery endurance tests, with some less-than-ideal results indicating poor efficiency numbers on the chipset end. The iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro somehow manage to deliver worse battery performance than their predecessors, despite having slightly bigger batteries.

Samsung's Galaxy Tab A9 Plus (or A9+) has found time to pop up in another new leak ahead of its official debut. It has brought its vanilla A9 sibling along in this case, which gives the upcoming Android tablet the impression of being even more affordable on its launch. It will, for example, have 4G/LTE as opposed to the 5G of the Plus model.

The Samsung Galaxy A24 5G has failed to emerge alongside its 4G/LTE counterpart in 2023 thus far. Despite that, it apparently has a successor lurking around on Geekbench already. Huawei is now believed to add an even more premium variant to its new flagship Mate 60 smartphone series soon. The Pro Plus (or Pro+) is thought to have even more punch-hole than the existing Pro variant, although both might run on the same mysterious new processor. On that note, a new Weibo post claims to outline the alleged Kirin platform's specs and performance metrics.

RedMagic touts its 8S Pro as the most "evolved" Android gaming smartphone on the global market due to its "True Full AMOLED Screen" experience driven by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2's Leading Version. However, its immediate successor the 9 Pro could be even better adapted thanks to an upgrade to the upcoming 8 Gen 3, according to a new leak.

The Find N3 Flip is projected to emerge as OPPO's latest premium clamshell foldable Android smartphone soon. The putative device has allegedly surfaced on Geekbench in advance of that event. The new leak purports to reveal that it will not have the same SoC - or amount of RAM - as the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5.

The AMD EPYC 9474F server processor has turned up on PassMark and managed to outscore a Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5995WX in the CPU Mark test suite despite having much fewer cores. The new top-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor has enjoyed its first outing in a foldable device, according to the AnTuTu benchmarking group. The Ryzen 9 7945HX is so powerful that it easily surpasses the mobile CPU competitor Intel Core i9-13980HX and sets its sights on the desktop monster i9-13900KS instead.

The Poco X4 Pro received a lot of flak when it launched last year for its poor performance compared to its predecessor, the Poco X3 Pro. Xiaomi has now fixed that by equipping the Poco X5 Pro with a more powerful chipset, and here we take a look at the performance numbers of the two popular mid-range phones.

The Sony Xperia 5 V has likely taken a recent trip to Geekbench, where not only did it reveal a handsome RAM upgrade but also thrashed the Xperia 5 IV in single-core and multi-core testing. Sony likes to describe its Xperia 5 phones as “compact”, although it is probable that the Xperia 5 V will come in at over 6 inches.

The AMD Ryzen 7 7730U has turned up on the PassMark benchmark site where it has revealed itself to be basically a Ryzen 7 5825U with a fresh coat of paint. The Ryzen 7 7730U was released in January 2023 but is based on Zen 3 architecture and comes with a Vega 8 graphics part. The Barcelo-R APU has been made for use in thin and light laptops.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 series was heavily marketed for its gaming prowess thanks to the boosted Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chipsets. Things look different in the real world, however, as the phones seem to fall way short of expectations in a Genshin Impact gaming test.

Qualcomm launched the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 last year and looks set to refresh it, with a potential Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1 built on TSMC's 4 nm node. That chipset, internally coded as "SM7475" has now appeared on AnTuTu, with scores that look to rival the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.

The Raptor Lake Intel Core i9-13980HX and i9-13900HX processors have knocked the crowd of Apple M2 chips off their PassMark perch in terms of single-thread CPU performance. The Dragon Range AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX has yet to make an appearance on this benchmark, but the i9-13980HX’s Turbo Power of 157 W gives it a muscular advantage.

Samsung's new flagship phones, the Galaxy S23 series, debuted with new performance modes: Standard and Light. That feature appears to have been a masterstroke, with benchmark numbers indicating a slight drop in performance when in Light, accompanied by significant prime core efficiency gains.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra debuted last week with new cameras and performance hardware. It appears all of that hardware, as well as solid optimization, has resulted in a flagship that delivers excellent battery life—significantly better than the S22 Ultra, and within touching distance of Apple's best.

The new Apple M2 Max and M2 Pro chips have become the latest chart champions in PassMark’s laptop CPU single-thread benchmark. The previous leader, the Apple M2, is pushed down to third, and it is just ahead of a trio of Alder Lake-HX parts. The M2 Max and M2 Pro produced decent results but still have to face-off against Intel’s Raptor Lake-HX mobile processors.
Update: Another M2 chip has appeared near the top of the chart.

The iGPU for the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, the TSMC-manufactured Qualcomm Adreno 740, has once again been showing its teeth on Geekbench. The S23 Ultra’s graphics processing unit was tested on Vulkan and produced another promising result that puts it over +56% ahead of the average provided by the Samsung-fabricated Adreno 730 that Global S22 Ultra phones relied upon.

While the US market is yet to receive phones with Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the flagship chipset can be expected to be something of a monster, with class-leading GPU performance over even Apple's A16 Bionic on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max being confirmed by both synthetic benchmarks and real-world gaming tests.
