The first version of Geekbench AI is here, and it enables you to check the AI performance of your PC's NPU, GPU, and CPU. While Primate Labs is presenting the tool as a new benchmarking software, it's basically the Geekbench ML with a marketing-friendly term.

Primate Labs has introduced the first version of a benchmarking tool called Geekbench AI. The name might seem new, but the software is actually based on Geekbench ML, which has been available since 2021. It appears that the developers have understood that "AI" is more marketing-friendly than ML.

Nonetheless, on Geekbench AI 1.0, you can test the AI performance of your PC by benchmarking the NPU, GPU, and CPU. Primate Labs says that the tool doesn't just evaluate the speed at which the components are handling the AI workload. In addition, the software measures the accuracy of the output.

Speaking of which, Geekbench AI benchmarks the performance with three distinct scores. First is Single Precision, which is generally referred to as INT32 or 32-bit precision. Next is Half Precision, also referred to as 16-bit precision. The last one is Quantized, often referred to as 8-bit precision or INT8.

The results are not displayed in TOPS, which is something that PC manufacturers have been using to advertise the AI capabilities of their products. Instead, you get scores for each of the subtests. Per the developers, this approach will offer a better insight into the overall AI performance, similar to how single-core and multi-core scores work.

On that note, like the regular Geekebench benchmark for CPU and GPU, users can check leaderboards on the official ranking page. It's worth mentioning that the scores of new hardware may not appear on the ranking, but there is a browser that lets you search for scores of exact components.

If you want to put your PC to the test and check out how the CPU, NPU, and GPU perform, you can currently download Geekbench AI 1.0 for free from the official downloads page. The software is also available for iOS and Android devices (16/512 GB RedMagic 9S Pro curr. $899 on Amazon).
