LG has added three new smartphones to its K-series mid-range line up for 2020. The new LG K62, K52, and K42 will arrive in October in Europe followed by key markets in Asia, Latin America and the Middle ast.

Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8T owners are not going to be too happy with the latest news about Android 10-based MIUI 12 for their devices. Delays are already expected anyway and now the general manager of Xiaomi Indonesia has claimed that the company is “still testing” the firmware for the Redmi Note 8/8T.

Asus launched the ROG Phone 3, its latest gaming flagship Android phone, in July 2020. However, it never materialized on the US or Canadian markets. The device has just appeared on the FCC database, suggesting that it is finally approved for sale in the region.

The Google Pixel 5 will have a plastic back, according to YouTuber Dave Lee. The Pixel 4a (5G) will be the larger of the two models and will be the only one to feature a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Google will announce both the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a (5G) on September 30.

After sending out an update to the Redmi Note 8 last week, Xiaomi is now sending an update to the Redmi Note 8 Pro. This new update delivers the September patch to the Indian model of the Xiaomi best-seller, with the Android One Mi A3 also getting its September update.

Details about the Google Pixel 4a (5G) have leaked, confirming almost every aspect about the upcoming mid-range smartphone. A 6.2-inch and 60 Hz OLED screen is headed to the Pixel 4a (5G), as is 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage and a 3,885 mAh battery.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S and Redmi Note 9 Pro have received their first MIUI 12 update in India. The OS upgrade should precede equivalents for the global, European, Russian and Turkish branches of MIUI, which are yet to receive Xiaomi's latest OS. The Mi Mix 3 5G has received MIUI 12 globally, too.

The Exynos 1000-powered Samsung Galaxy S21+ has made an appearance on Geekbench. It nets a single-core score of 1,038 and a multi-core score of 3,060, putting it behind the Qualcomm Snapdragon 875. However, the abysmal performance could also be the result of unoptimized software.

Qualcomm recently released the Snapdragon 750G as its latest sub-premium 5G-capable chipset. If you assumed that the Snapdragon 765G remains the more powerful of the duo, you'd have assumed wrong, as new information indicates that the new Snapdragon 750G edges the Snapdragon 765G, while trading blows with the MediaTek Dimensity 820.

HMD Global has released three new smartphones, the Nokia 2.4, Nokia 3.4 and Nokia 8.3 5G. The Nokia 2.4 and Nokia 3.4 are the only genuinely new smartphones of the three, as HMD Global unveiled the Nokia 8.3 5G in March.

Samsung has officially teased the Galaxy A42, indicating it is to be the OEM's cheapest 5G handset on its launch. The statement revealed its price (in Euros), design and screen-size, while skimming right past its processor. A new code tear-down now asserts that its SoC is in fact the new Snapdragon 750G.

The Galaxy S20 FE has arrived with a choice of Exynos 990 or Snapdragon 865 chipsets. The 6.5-inch device is also available in six colours with 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB storage. The Exynos 990 model starts at €633, while the Snapdragon 865 edition will retail for €730.

Huawei has patented a design for a smartphone that seems to have an under-display selfie camera. However, its other side has an interesting feature: quad sensors in a plus-sign-shaped module. Furthermore, one of the lenses is square, suggesting that it can accommodate cameras for periscope zoom photography.

MIUI 12 beta and internal testing will be halted between September 30 and October 12, according to a new report. The break in development may also result in a pause to phase three of Xiaomi's MIUI 12 release schedule for devices like older Redmi Note handsets.

LG has released a new smartphone, the K71. The new mid-range smartphone has a 6.8-inch display, 4 GB of RAM and stylus support. A 4,000 mAh battery is onboard too, as are four cameras.

New leaks have confirmed nearly every aspect of the Google Pixel 5, which is due to arrive on September 30. The €629 device will feature a 6.0-inch display, a Snapdragon 765G chipset, 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Additionally, Google has moved up to a 4,080 mAh battery for its new smartphone, but many other features are the same as or worse than the Pixel 4 series.

The Xiaomi Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro may be cheaper than expected, according to new reports. The Mi 10T will supposedly retail for just €499 in Europe, while the Mi 10T Pro will start at €599.90 with 128 GB of storage and 8 GB of RAM. The 256 GB model will set you back €50 more, which would be significantly cheaper than previous claims.

Rumour has it that Xiaomi is working on another Redmi smartphone, the Redmi K30T. The device should be with us before the end of the year and may bear a striking resemblance to the Mi 10T Pro.

TSMC surprised everyone when it announced that its 3 nm nodes will not use GAAFET transistors. Meanwhile, the Taiwanese foundries decided to speed up the release of the 2 nm nodes, which will finally adopt the GAAFET design. Still, the N2 nodes will only become operational by mid-2023, allowing Samsung to get the edge with its 3 nm GAAFET nodes by late 2021. Despite this advantage, TSMC is confident that Samsung will not get too many orders for the 3 nm node due to low yields.

A new leak suggests that the OnePlus 8T will retail at €599 (US$703) in Europe. It is contradicted by another report, which states that the starting price could be as high as €799 (US$937). OnePlus will officially unveil the device on October 15, so it shouldn't be long before we know for sure.

Realme has officially unveiled a device based on the new Snapdragon 460 processor in Bangladesh. The C17 also has quad rear cameras, a 500mAh battery and a 6.5-inch HD+ display with a 90 hertz (Hz) refresh rate. It is priced at US$200 in its first market.

Xiaomi has finally gotten around to enabling native call recording on the Poco F2 Pro. The feature is available on the global variant of the device and will work from within the default phone app.

Apple is all set to release the world's first-ever 'mini' iPhone. A new leak suggests that Apple's 2020 smartphone lineup will consist of the iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max. All four phones are expected to be unveiled in the coming weeks.

Android 11 has arrived for the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T, albeit in the form of custom ROMs. Neither device is ever likely to receive Android 11 officially, so custom ROMs will be the only way to access Android 11 from here on out.

Realme has now debuted its latest set of devices for the Indian smartphone market. The trio of the Realme Narzo 20A, Narzo 20, and Narzo 20 Pro start at Rs 8,499 and go all the way up to Rs 16,999 in an attempt to tackle Xiaomi's lineup starting with the Redmi 9A up to the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max.

Another Xiaomi patent has surfaced and this latest one is for a multiple fold flexible smartphone/tablet hybrid. The Chinese OEM has chosen to grace this concept device with two folds, leading it to be dubbed the Xiaomi Mi Z Fold by some sites. The foldable smartphone has some issues though, including its obvious thickness when folded.

Various new Android 11-based custom ROMs have been appearing for a number of Redmi devices, with the especially popular Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8T getting the unofficial Android 11 treatment. The custom ROM for the Redmi Note 9S is in an alpha stage so may not appeal to all users and the aging Redmi Note 5 Pro is covered by LineageOS.

Although repairing the dual-display Microsoft Surface Duo can easily turn into a nightmare and it is not an easy task even for experienced people, the good news is that this piece of hardware is quite unlikely to break. According to the JerryRigEverything's torture test, the Surface Duo is surprisingly rugged.

Xiaomi's CEO, Lei Jun, reportedly estimated that his OEM's global operations represented 50% or more of its total revenue at this stage. Vivo has announced that it will launch the V20 series of smartphones in Southeast Asia later in September 2020. Some leaks indicate that it will have a Pro variant with the Snapdragon 765G processor. This phone may also have a triple camera with a 64MP main sensor

The Nokia 9.3 has been in the works for well over a year now but a concrete launch date remains unknown. The phone is expected to be unveiled in the fourth quarter of the year, however, and new information indicates that the Nokia flagship may offer a reasonably compact form factor.

Updated custom ROMs based on Android 11 have become available for both the Poco F1 and Xiaomi Mi A2 smartphones. It has already been revealed that neither of these devices was on the list for official OEM support to Android 11, but custom ROM devs have not forgotten Poco F1 and Mi A2 owners.

The Redmi 9i offers a 6.53-inch screen, a 3.5mm jack and a 5000mAh battery for about US$100 in various markets. Now, the OEM has launched another variant of this same phone with more RAM and storage in India. This 9a will go on sale for INR 8299 (~$113) on platforms such as Flipkart soon.

Time-of-flight (or ToF) sensors have become commonplace in higher-end smartphones, fulfilling roles such as depth-perception in photography or advanced face detection for biometrics. Samsung has used them in the past, but has not made its own. Now, however, it seems a new member of the ISOCELL image-sensor family will be dedicated to this task.

Just as we completed our review of the A52, Oppo announced ColorOS 11. What is more is that it is coming to the A52 in the fourth quarter. The low-priced smartphone is very similar to the A72. This means that the A52 shares not only the strengths of the A72 but also its weaknesses.

Xiaomi may already be testing Android 11 builds of MIUI 12 for multiple devices internally, according to a new report. It seems that the Redmi K20, Redmi K30 and Mi CC9 Pro are next up for Android 11, as should the Mi Note 10, Mi Note 10 Pro, Mi 9T and Poco X2 by extension.

The Thai regulator NBTC has approved an upcoming Huawei device called the NOH-NX9, revealing that it is in fact the Mate 40 Pro in the process. This model number has also popped up on the EEC and Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) databases, suggesting that the premium phablet will indeed make its debut soon.
