Nokia has not released a true flagship smartphone since the Snapdragon 845-powered 9 PureView. That seems a long time ago now, particularly as the OEM has reportedly tried and failed to produce numerous successors for it over the years. Even its camera brand-partner, Zeiss, has moved on since then.
Now, the HMD Global brand is once again linked to a new premium smartphone. The blog ITHome claims that Zhang Yucheng, the Product Manager for the company's Chinese division, has confirmed that Nokia will launch a new 5G flagship on or before November 11, 2021.
Also known as Single's Day (or 11.11) in this country, it is often a bumper day for retailers, particularly the big online platforms. Should this report prove accurate, it is possible the "new Nokia" will drop the x.x PureView naming convention by the time it shows up.
The brand does have a new X-series now, rumored to be joined by new members with 108MP main camera sensors, while others might get custom-designed sensors to carry Nokia's reputation for mobile photography on into this new line.
