Rumor | Nokia hurriedly retracts a premature Instagram teaser for the upcoming G50 5G launch
Nokia is currently said to augment one of its newest smartphone lines with a 5G variant called the G50 soon. Now, thanks to a reported mis-step by a member or members of the OEM's social media team, this rumor might have been set in stone.
This device - also possibly known by the code-name Punisher - has apparently been confirmed as a 5G device with a 48MP main camera, thanks to a post that might have been posted to Nokia France's Instagram in advance by accident.
It consists of imagery for a device styled much like others such as the 3.4 or X10, in blue or sand-like colors, accompanied by text that also strongly hints at day-long battery life and "incredible autonomy" (which might be interpreted as anything from advanced AI features to Google Assistant support).
The G50 may also have the same Snapdragon 480 and V-shaped display notch as the Motorola smartphone of a very similar name; then again, the putative Nokia version is depicted as having this brand's signature ring-cam, of course, containing 2 additional lenses and a flash. Then again, its ostensibly yanked trailer gives no hint as to a launch date or price for the possibly imminent new option in budget 5G handsets.
