Xiaomi Android 12 update list includes over 70 Mi, Redmi, POCO, and Black Shark smartphones but there's bad news for Mi 9T and Redmi K20 Pro owners
A long list of Xiaomi, Redmi, POCO, and Black Shark smartphones has been published by Xiaomiui in regard to their status with Android 12. According to the update list, which is unofficial but allegedly produced with the help of “internal information”, there are already 12 smartphones undergoing internal Android 12 beta testing, including the extensive Mi 11 range, the POCO F3, and the Redmi K40.
Dozens of Redmi, POCO, and Black Shark devices are then listed under the column of “will get Android 12” and there are a further 12 Xiaomi Mi brand smartphones also with the same heading. Then there is a selection of six smartphones, which includes the Redmi Note 9 (Global), that may or may not get the Android 12 update (see image posted below).
What will stick in the throat of many Xiaomi fans is the “Devices won’t get Android 12" section. There are some big names in here: the Mi 9 series, the Redmi 9 range, the Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro. There have already been some angry comments posted online in regard to the inclusion here of the Xiaomi Mi 9T/Mi 9T Pro smartphones, which are known as the Redmi K20/Redmi K20 Pro in some parts of the world.
Owners have been voicing their frustration that such popular and reasonably recent smartphones (released May 2019) have been overlooked for an Android 12 update, especially as the Mi 9T Pro/Redmi K20 Pro came with an at-the-time flagship Snapdragon 855 processor. On top of that, the Xiaomiui post also notes that budget Redmi phones usually only receive one major update.
