Xiaomi's Android One program was essentially killed off a year ago, with the company shelving all plans for a Mi A4 release, leaving the Mi A3 as its final Android One device. The company has continued to support the Mi A3 judiciously, though—for now, at least.
The Mi A3 is now receiving a new update globally. This update delivers the July security patch, and bears the build designation "V12.0.12.0 RFQMIXM". The OTA is light, as Android One patches typically are, with a 44 MB weight. This update looks to be a stable build, but only for global units of the Mi A3. Other software models of the phone will likely get the update later this week.
Xiaomi sent out the July update to the Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite last week. Those updates are expected to be the final updates those two phones will get, as they've now had their promised three-year runs. The Mi A3 was released a year after, though, so is now entering its last year of support. By this time next year, we expect it to also receive its last OTA, bringing an end to the era of Xiaomi phones running stock Android.
