Xiaomi blends a Samsung Z Flip with a Redmi Note 9T to come up with a potential Mi Mix Flip clamshell smartphone
A granted patent from the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA; patent office) has been dug up by LetsGoDigital and its contents shared. The patent is for a Xiaomi smartphone that LetsGoDigital has fairly dubbed the “Xiaomi Mi Mix Flip”. Unsurprisingly, this foldable smartphone has a clamshell design that is reminiscent of that of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip series.
However, the potential Xiaomi Mi Mix Flip, Mi Flip, or whatever name the Chinese OEM comes up with, differs from the Galaxy rival with its rear camera setup and design. For example, the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 3 has a two-tone back that features a dual-camera system in a vertical alignment fitted into the top left-hand corner. In this aspect, the clamshell smartphone in this particular Xiaomi patent has taken inspiration from the Redmi Note 9T instead.
So on the rear of this Xiaomi clamshell smartphone is a triple-camera system fixed inside a circular housing. At the front there is also a dual-camera setup that takes advantage of a large cut-out in the top left-hand corner, and there are physical buttons to be found on the right edge. Renders provided by LetsGoDigital show the “Mi Mix Flip” looking somewhat slimline in design, so it wouldn’t take up too much room in a pocket or purse when flipped shut.
