Xiaomi hit a number of notes right with the launch of its first-gen foldable flagship, the Mi Mix Fold. It has an inward-folding design that can conceal an 8-inch 2K display free of punch-holes and a triple rear camera that incorporates a 108MP main sensor, liquid lens technology and a custom-made in-house ISP. Furthermore, it undercuts rivals such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 and Huawei Mate X2 with its 9999 yuan (~US$1540) starting price.
Therefore, it is a shame that Xiaomi never mentioned international availability for the Mi Mix Fold at its launch. However, there is now a sign that it might release it in countries besides China after all. The leaker @stufflistings (or Mukul Sharma) claims to have found a model number associated with the device (M2011J18G) on the Indian IMEI database.
This is not necessarily absolute proof that the Mi Mix Fold will launch in India; however, it remains a positive sign that there is a global SKU of the phone out there. It would be interesting to see how the premium foldable would be priced in a new region, and how it would compete with the Galaxy Z Fold2 on a more global scale.
